I guess we're still in a 'schedule' of sorts... but I believe it was announced somewhere that LL will listen and do less frequent updates except in emergency cases.

Can't find a link right now but I'm sure it was mentioned.

Furthermore, the updates are CRAP! We don't even care about these new features being added. There are so many other voiced concerns that need to be updated!!!!

Who the hell ever said they needed flexy-prims, a new 5 step snapshot process, etc etc etc.....

The important updates that LL said they were going to handle havnt been updated (the group features for one)

But if they don't update, when can bugs get fixed? Bug fixes are part of updates ... and I want that edit window slowdown bug fixed already.

Too many damned exclamation points (!).

But yes, a little more stability would be good.

I have a feeling, even without having taken the time to look, that this subject is one of the 'done to death' ones. What's the problem? New features, bug fixes, etc.

It's an update. Things get updated. It might cause a little bit of hassle here and there, but in the long run it's for the greater good.

You agreed to use the service in which you pay for. Part of that included the updates.

So chill. Relax. Take a holiday. Don't fret it.

It was, but i'm beginning to wonder WHEN they'll begin to slow down. This is getting fairly dumb.

Hmmm ... This would represent a fairly major departure from Philip's recent statements about moving toward bi-weekly incremental updates, instead of large less-frequent releases.

Personally, I like the frequent updates and look forward to the new features each brings. I too would like to see better quality control in place, but as a software development manager myself, I know that frequent interative release cycles actually tend to reduce the number of defects as less new stuff is introduced with each deployment. I think it's a tough call, but I prefer the cycle they are on now.

Scheduling events on any Wednesday is a plain stupid idea, period. What day of the week do they have set aside for updates, again? Jeez, and calm down. Merchants are not losing money. Buyers will still be there when it comes back up! They just end up doing their shopping at a different time.

I agree that a bit more testing would be nice before some of the minor stuff that's been added, a single week is awfully fast turnaround.

So much downtime does suck.. but since everyone is screaming there heads off complaining... and we all know the lindens are listening one has to believe they are doing what they are doing to sincerely fix the system... the new features have likely been works in progress for quite sometime before even mentioning anything to the public, so its not like they are just working on stuff no one wants, but rather releasing the long projects for testing while bug fixing... or.. you know something like that.

They aren't just openly ignoring anyone for sure.. if you ignore the users in a user created world everyone will leave and that will leave them with 0 money. As a business I think that would probably not be smart :D

Actually much as I like to moan and groan about downtime, SL is considerably less than my other online gaming experience TSO. For those that came from that game, they had a 1-3 hour downtime every day for maintance and then could go down 3-7 hours any given day at any given time for an update. I do believe they updated less frequently but again, it was a daily maintance downtime.

Coming from TSO also and for us it's so much better on the downtime and updates. Honestly that was one of the main reasons (amoungst many others) I siwtched to the other side of the track. Believe it or not SL has alot less lag.

Unfortunately, it appears as though that was one of Linden Lab's STFU already appeasement posts, designed to quell the overwhelming outcry for them to stop. This patch seems to be proof they have no intention of following through.

I will be extrememly pissed off at Linden Lab if they don't fix the crappy performance issues that have been plaguing the grid for the past week. Over the past week it's been common to see SIM Dil of .01 - .48 for 10 minutes at a time making it almost impossible to move. There is no excuse for them to have just 'let it go' for this long without trying to make it work better.

They took the grid down yesturday (Tuesday) for about 30 minutes then did a rolling update of the grid and still the SIM Dil issues persisted. I just want them to fix things. Is that so much to ask?!

=(
