"Activate Your Account
If you wish to forego your free trial, you may activate your Second Life account immediately by clicking the Activate Account button below. You will be automatically billed, and your account will switch to a full membership with unrestricted resident privileges. "
Hey what does this mean? How long does the free trial last?

Hey what does this mean? How long does the free trial last? A free trail.... forever! That changed, so if you don't have an account yet (you're posting here, so I guess you do), you get a free lifetime account when you sign up. If you got that when you signed up, and this is your frist account, then you get to play free on a basic account until SL closes (or until they change it).

ohhh so they try to scare people into buying premium. I see how they use this tactic, lame lame lame. I don't want this "activate account" button in my account all of my time in second life. I'm not going premium either.

Dude, what do you want for nothing? Can't blame them for putting the option for you to become a paying member on the screen.

Keep your free Basic account for as long as you want, no problems. The main reason most subscribers upgrade to Premium is so they can own land in SL. If you don't want land, don't upgrade. It's pretty simple.
