i noticed since i joined SL a slow and constant degradation of the mood and behaviors in this forum, peoples getting agressive, bitter, whining for any reasons or no reasons.
Just wondering if you like whining that much, if its bringing you some kind of satisfaction feel. Some are whining so much it feel like it is becoming a reflex to them.
YES: i need to whine for every reason or no reason, i actually believe that i know better than LL how to run SecondLife
NO: i know that LL doesnt always do the right thing but i respect what they do, especially when i haven't a better solution.
They whine when stuffs change They whine when stuffs stay the same THey whine when LL is unfair THey whine when LL is impartial
but what do you really want ?
what will make you stop complaining?

Kyrah, the old Sony EQ boards were nicknamed "Whineplay" for a reason. I was a mod on that board, what's going on here is not really any different. Sometimes people just have a need to vent. IMO, there's "whining to cleanse your soul" and "whining because you wallow in your own negativity". Not all whining is a bad thing I generally don't whine. I get even.

Ah...good times.

You've certainly never whined about anything ever, right, small designer that wants recognition from LL?
In any event, your poll choices are biased and horribly incomplete, invalidating this entire exercise...
...which is itself just a whine, albiet one with a different target.

There are plenty of ways in which SL can make people feel bitter and upset, and when that happens people are going to complain/whine, the distinction usually only being made by effectiveness.

I find this thread incredibly ironic coming from someone who started several whining threads just a week or two ago, including one that complained...ermm...whined...that all the guns in SL looked like shite.
The apparent hyposcrisy aside, I find your poll skewed and biased. It makes the incorrect assumption that everyone on the forums (or at least everyone who answers the poll) whines. There is no option for "I don't post whiny threads at all". I have been here 2 years now and don't believe I have started a single thread, let alone a whiny one. Nor do I tend to whine or complain in other people's threads either as a general rule. This poll is rather like the old joke..."Have you stopped beating your dog?"
I am all for less whining, complaining, and general insanity on the forums. Doomsaying gets old after a while, especially when it has yet to turn out to be the end of the SL world. However, whining about your own pet peeves and then whining later about other people whining about THEIR pet peeves seems a bit over the top to me...not to mention useless. I guess it goes to show it's only whining if OTHER people do it.
*shrugs and wanders off*

I really wish the use of the words 'whine' or 'whining' would carry a mandatory three-day ban from the forums.

I think it's fun to post on those kinds of threads "Stop being a whiny cry-baby" and then watch all the whiners get all bristly and defensive. Invariably they will start whining about me telling them not to be whiners. That's always good for a laugh or two. I even have a good picture for them: http://www.punjabkesari.com/health/health_files/crying.jpg

I don't think you wrote one of your options very well. It should read:
No: I know that LL doesn't always do the right thing, but I respect what they do, and I would certainly never criticize what they do.

In spirit, I actually agree with the OP (that is, I think SL is basically very good, and I see little reason to complain about every little thing). However, I detest and resent manipulative polls wherein you're given a choice phrased as obviously "right" and another choice phrased to suggest you'd be an idiot for choosing it, so I chose the "yes" answer in protest. If you want real answers, try making a real poll.

From: Selador Cellardoor I really wish the use of the words 'whine' or 'whining' would carry a mandatory three-day ban from the forums. I'd prefer automatic word substitution, like how FARK always replaces the words "first post" with "boobies" and "first comment" with "weeners." It's good for a laugh and confuses the hell outta newbies when they look at their post for the first time and see: "This is my boobies here, and I'd just like to remark on the weeners in this thread..."
