Super s-l-o-w TPs, '(waiting)' and 'Retrieving...'
I've been seeing a lot of that. Is it just the Heaney family curse, or is there a real issue going on?

I am getting "your clothes are still downloading" messages, slow rezzing, gray loading textures, slow script loading, slow map response, nothing working with the speed it ought to. Normal SL behavior.

Since I've seen these posts a few times in the past and am usually one of the "younger" members I haven't responded since I had no frame of reference. However I am now curious of what is fast and slow in other people's minds. I have just run ten random teleport tests to un-cached locations and had the following results:
Teleport time: 2 - 7 seconds, average 6
Full render time: 5 - 9 seconds, average 7
What times are other people getting? What did you used to get in the past? What speeds should we be expecting in the current setup of one region per processor?
My system specs: HP Pavillion, Windows Media Center Edition 2005, Intel Pentium D 2.80GHz, 2GB RAM, ATI Radeon X1600 512MB, Comcast Cable, Linksys Router

Normal SL behavior. I get that clothing message almost every time i login. i've trained myself to hold down ENTER to bypass it. Been happening since i joined SL. That was back in 2004 ;p it dont happen EVERY time though. |
