www.secondcast.com. Issue 10 and 11. No clue about the text version, sorry, Lewis. Actually Faudf, those two episodes are not of the town hall audio stream. They are an interview SecondCast held with Phillip several days before the town hall event. |

Actually Faudf, those two episodes are not of the town hall audio stream. They are an interview SecondCast held with Phillip several days before the town hall event. Eh? Okay.. I know one of them says something about the Townhall, then. That's what I get for trying to read, I thought it said Second Lifers, not SecondCasters. But that was what I found when I tried to find the podcast. _____________________

In the townhall meeting Philip said we could take a look at the 1.9.1 preview. I'm still waiting.

Maybe a real townhall? Not an event that excludes a large portion of SL?

Maybe they willl display the transcript in the form of HTML on a prim.
Or maybe the are storing the transcript with the old scripting forum. _____________________

They're having a meeting about changing names. An inworld meeting! Like they don't have enough data posted about this ancient request that has been discussed a bazillion times already, like concerned people can readily attend an arbitrarily scheduled meeting.
Why don't those announcements include email and IM options which a list of addresses and people like they used to when LL understood that people communicate ideas to them all kinds of ways. Never mind Khamon, what do you expect by now other than oh never never mind. _____________________

Never mind Khamon, what do you expect by now other than oh never never mind. Email and IMs and such don't engage our 3D perceptual system, and hence aren't likely to be retained sufficiently well to be of any value. Now if we built our messages from prims, so that we could walk through them and fly through them and see the messages from all sides and maybe make a big aerial map of them, then we'd have a communication system going. ![]() _____________________

Really, how long does it take to type it up?? Philip mentions Robin typing it DURING the townhall so where is it already?? Geez...if Robin is too busy to finish it, why doesn't she post what she DOES have so others can continue? Come on, LL: COLLABORATION. How many freakin' times do I have to type it before you get it?

We'll do everything we can do to add text to everything that's happening, create a transcript, Robin is going to type as much as she can in real time. I'm sure we can figure how to do that even better. We'll certainly be willing to invest in doing that so that other people can listen along and follow what's happening. Okay, well those are two different answers. 1.9.1 Is now in preview we're aggressive about pushing things into preview Let me just stop for a second and add a really cool feature that's in 1.9.1 that I encourage everybody to try out and preview, its this thing called Acculision this is a really interesting performance enhancing improvement because what it does is it says that if you have a bunch of objects you know on the land next to you and you put up a wall that you can't see through, you know between you and those objects, they won't render anymore which means your frame rate will go way up. So this is a nice example of a feature like that that is actually in the current preview so, everybody that's listening, go into preview, find a scene where there's a ton of stuff in front of you that's causing your frame ray to drop, and then make a box on the ground, drag that box you know really big in front of you so that it blocks out that stuff and watch your frame ray. It's really exciting, its a very cool feature that's built in 1.9.1. |
