In the UK when things seem to take an age and in times of great adversity some old tart can be relied upon to jump up as if posessed and bellow 'God save The Queen' or 'Her Majesty' and other variations upon the theme. Indeed it is (I am told) how we got through the war, except that the aforementioned old tart shouted about the King obviously, (the present Maj being but a slip of a girl at the time!) It may sound silly to you, my friends on distant shores, but believe me when I tell you that to shout these very words lifts the spirits and makes you glad to be alive. I am convinced that the Lindens will be hastened in their mission by the wave of euphoria as we all shout aloud! It is 2am here in English England, my partner and the dog are both sound asleep but I'm sure they will understand. For one night only I am prepared to take on the role of that old tart and please don't let it be in vain.....come on and shout with me now 'HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN' See I told you it would make you feel better  |

Indeed there was a saying prior to WW2 that the sun never set on the British Empire! It was often quoted with much pride.
In reality it was because God did not trust us in the dark :-/

In reality it was because God did not trust us in the dark :-/ Indeed we had the ultimate empire, no empire that had gone before the British Empire was so big, and at it's height so powerful or wealthy as the British Empire. Nor will there ever be an empire in the future that will rival what we had. |
