According to this article: California Could See Blackouts.

I dunno where the servers are kept... is California's electrical problems and possible blackouts something we need to worry about for SL access?

This is meant as an honest post... not fear-mongering.

Thanks,

-Ghoti

Cali has always had black out problems from what I understand. And I am sure they are on generators like any other big facility

The data center which hosts the SL servers is 365 Main, and has enough power generators for backup power to keep all of downtown San Francisco powered for a week. I think we'll be okay. For more info, follow the link and you can see some data sheets with more info. :)

Also, keep in mind that some of SL's servers may even be spread through-out the other national facilities which that company owns.

I live in cali and honestly rolling black outs are something thats just an ordinary summer occurance for us in most parts of the state. Most large companies that rely on electricity to function are aware enough about california's power issues to have back up generators. Most likely LL either have a few or they have more than one location for their servers.

EDIT: Nvm just read Flipper's answer :)
