Hello all this is my first post to the forum.
My wife and friends just recently started playing SL, about two days into it my wife said “Have you dreamt in SL yet?” Sure enough the next night I did. Since then all my dreams that I can remember have been in or about SL. I don’t know why but I think this is a significant phenomenon. We have joked that it is a bug that should be removed from the next version.
Anyway have you all experienced it? what dreams have you had? What does it mean?

I've had a dream or two that took place in SL.
The most recent one I can remember happened during the months while I was working on my last robot. I was living, breathing, and quite literally dreaming that damn thing.
Anyway, in my dream, I was in Gibson, zoomed in on the robot and fiddling with it. My avatar was wearing his brown suit.
And at some point, Torley just walks by. Doesn't say anything or even acknowledge me. Just walks by. And I knew it was Torley, 'cause of the colors and the hat. I think that was the only person in the dream, but I only remember tiny bits of it after all this time, there might have been others, too. I think Torley didn't say anything because that would have required text and my understanding is that the part of the brain that dreams doesn't really process written language. Anyone corroborate that?

I occasionally dream I am recieving and sending IMs, having an entire IM conversation but now that I think about it, I don't recal the actual text or the content of the "conversation".

Haven't dreamed anything SL yet. But I would find it quite expected that dreams of SL would come to some. Given the vivid imagery available inside the world the brain would have a lot of new inputs to process each day ... which will lead at the very least to the "info management" type of dream. Of course that's just "at the very least"

Yeah, I've had a dream where I glanced at a computer monitor and "read" an AIM conversation, but I don't recall actually seeing the words. Rather, I saw a representation of words and then the dream went through the mental motions of absorbing data, but none of it was meaningful or anything.

I had nightly dreams in IM format, to the point where I'd become "aware" (wake up) and start digging under the covers to look for a "suddenly missing" key board! LOL No animation style scenes, just scrolling text, Franklin Gothic. It covered about a six-eight week period.
This is a pretty drastic Media Effect and warrants further study. If anyone else has dreamed in IM format, pls drop me a line if you've enough common sense, unlike me, to post it here.
I also had a strangely compelling urge to sell all my possesions and buy Linden lab stock! (J/k)
BTW, who's faces are on the Linden Currency?

Ive had one Second Life dream. I dreamed of the normal city streets in my town, the real world, but in my dream an avie friend of mine was zooming up and down the road in a blue sl sports car. So more or less it was the second life avie zooming up and down the real roads in a blue second life sports car. It was funny.

Heh, guess I'm not the only one then. I'll have dreams revolving around stuff like Second Life, Battlefield 2, Half Life 2, etc. Dont know if that makes me a big "geek" or what.

From: Enabran Templar I think Torley didn't say anything because that would have required text and my understanding is that the part of the brain that dreams doesn't really process written language. Anyone corroborate that? No - when I was a programmer I used to have dreams that were *only* text on a screen, and written text is not an infrequent element in my dreams, despite the fact that in general my dreams are vivid and highly-coloured.

Never had an "SL" dream, but had several dreams since I started using SL where I would be able to create what I needed from thin air to accomplish whatever-the-hell I was trying to do in the dream.
I would almost (almost) put this on the same level as lucid dreaming, but Im not sure it is the same, since I cant do anything (such as flying) in the middle of my dreams, at will.
On that note, SL itself could be compared to lucid dreaming, but still without total control, as you get in a lucid dream.
On an interesting side note, I was told once that to trigger a lucid dream, all you need to know is what is completely impossible, and how to spot that in a dream, thereby gaining consciousness in the dream and triggering a lucid dream. This has only worked once for me, as in a dream, it is very hard to realise that something isnt real.

I've had dreams when I was addicted to text-based MUDs where my dream took place within those games...I'm just as addicted to SL and I wait for the first dream I have in SL...but I'm not holding my breath. I rarely (remember) dream.
Lucid dreaming is fun, even if the only experience I've had was partially-lucid ones.

I often have dreams of unassisted flight, since long before SL. However, since last week, I seem to have become "non-physical" and can fly through walls and buildings.

I had two Second Life dreams very early on in my SL career. Probably within the first couple of days playing.
The first one had me traveling to the land of furries looking for an avatar that would make me look like Brer Rabbit. I met Liam Nesson, he gave me a sword. But he lead me to a door that lead somewhere far from the land of furries and I was lost with my sword in a strange sim.
The other dream I found this building with these prim-people looking things jumping out of a window. I went to look where they were coming from, and they would rez in this this room, then run out the window.
I've had a couple other SL dreams, but those first ones are the ones I remember clearly.

First Topic... dreams in SL. I have had dreams of sorting my inventory. Just standing there trying on thing after thing and action after action. Very boring huh?
Second topic.. script in dreams. I am pretty sure that I have read signs in dreams before and actually seen the script.

SL Dream

I had a dream that involved SL, but it was kinda weird, I was in Rausch sandbox when all the sudden my av jumped out of the computer screen and decided to have a look arround at its new surroundings, Startled by what it saw it started talking in chat bubbles to my rl pet cats, then it started talking to me in chat bubble form, and the funny part is I could understand what it was saying.

I've probably had one forevery MMO I've played.
In the strangest one, I was my Asheron's Call 2 Character running around Balmora, in Morrowind. No one was in the city, and I just kept roof hopping. Was weird.
