Release Notes for Second Life 1.10.5(1) June 28, 2006 ===================================== New features: * Each resident's profile now includes a field revealing whether the resident has provided payment information to Linden Lab. ** The profile's "Account" field includes account status: "Resident" or "Linden Lab Employee" and, in the case of "Resident" status one of three status entries: *** "No Payment Info on File" - account was created with no credit card or Paypal *** "Payment Info on File" - account has provided a credit card or Paypal *** "Payment Info Used" - credit card or Paypal on account has successfully been billed ** We plan to provide features in future updates to mark specific parts of the Second Life world (or allow residents to mark their own land) as accessible only to accounts with payment information.
This is going too far Lindens, on one level I can understand why but on another. "sorry you can't come on my sim you don't have a credit card" "sorry this shop is only for paying customers" "oh you only have paypal... bye" "too bad credit to have a credit card ? "
Lindens This is PRIVATE informations, I did NOT give you the right to tell others if I pay or NOT, I did not give you the right to tell anyone if I use paypal or credit card.
And you will find its VERY dodgy legal wise.
I have suffered through your laggy game, your inability to code fixes and instead of working on the problems in the games you give us "Editing apperance titles".
for the past months ive only logged on sl for my friends after all not much else you can do... Drive a car, but watch that you don't loose it, log off or loose your passenger on a sim line. Shoot a gun, but wait for the lag as you fire and miss. Fly a plane...oh sorry not really that viable as each sim line is a gauntlet of lost connections and lost friends...
So yes I log onto sl to talk to friends and wait 10 mins for a new set of clothes to rez.
But this ....
There may be nothing else like SL out there, but right now im errring on the side of nothing else looking pretty damn good.

There may be nothing else like SL out there, but right now im errring on the side of nothing else looking pretty damn good. actually i kinda agree...i'm in a sim thats got a higher downtime than it does up, i put up with reboots occuring at least 5 times daily as well as script perf spikes going up to and exceeding 500,000 whene average is (and i'm gonna be nice here) 50,000 and i put up with it cuz i understand its a computer on there end and stuff happens...but saying what kinda customer i am...is no ones business but linden labs, yeah i am a subscriber and yes i do own land...but that is no ones business, you want to tell ppl i'm a subscriber and not a basic account sure whatever i really don't care because most games label you like that anyways but to tell everyone straight up that yes i have paid in one way or another or not is no ones business if i want to buy money so be it thats my business at least i have some if i don't i don't and my first fear of all this is how secure is it going to be because clearly there will have to be a link between my profile and the database for payments made....how compramisable will this update be because we have seen what happens with every other update that is implamented, it takes like 2 weeks to be resolved (if were lucky) so yes i too have a problem with this and for the first few weeks, possably even a month i will be checking my billing transactions on the daily because i have very little trust in there secureity to start with, without having this potential volnurabily.
