Well, in the midst of the doom mongering I thought I might shine a light and say, hey, maybe it'll be alright.

I respect all of your doubts about the credit card verification disappearing, and I'm not saying you all don't have a point.

What I am saying is this: SL is at present a pretty small little village...maybe a few thousand on at any one time, an apparent 250,000 members, though goodness knows how many are gone or alts. And before this change, seemed to me it was a pretty exclusive one. I got good friends who wanted in, but because they were either on the poorer or sensibly debt free fringes of society had no credit card, and being English as they are no recourse to the American cell phone method. Now they are in, and the world is better for it.

I was in a discussion in-world the other day with a whole bunch of people, talking about diversity in SL...well. I don't see much, right now. But we will, soon, and I'm looking forward to it. People from all over the world, the good, the bad and the ugly, they'll all come, and I for one think it'll be a lot of fun.

I grew up in a little village. It was very safe, peaceful, and pretty much excluded the outside world. I moved to London, which is quite the opposite, and never looked back.
