Is there a way to create a landmark from scratch without being in the actual location, or, at that very least, a way to teleport to a location when somebody gives you the sim name and coordinates?

There doesn't seem to be a way to edit the coordinates of a landmark.

What you can do is open the map and then type the name of the region in the "Find Region" edit box. Then hit the Tab key to go to the edit boxes for the x, y, and z coordinates. Then click the Teleport button.

In Windows, do Start, Run, type "secondlife://SimName/x/y/z", then press enter.

Example: secondlife://Ahern/128/128/64

Why we can't do that inworld is a mystery.
