From: someone FirstName Lastname - Sign Maker This lovely designs adorns at least a few of Firstname's numerous properties, bringing not only a fleeting delight to the eyes of all those who pass quickly by, but also a continuous state of estacy in the neighbors of these lovely signs and the always packed casinos that rest underneath them. Those in this fortunate position are blessed with the joy of seeing these masterpieces of prim manipulation every single instant they are on the property they paid for. It's part of what makes SL so nice - good neighbors, working together to have a good time. Thanks, Firstname. I posted the above quoted passage a while back and my thread was closed nearly instantly. Somone posted in a current thread: From: someone Can Someone Post a Poll asking Do You Think Lazarus Divine Is A Blackmailing, Land Extortionist Scumbag Vote Yes or No Why was my old thread, which contains not a single bad word in it, closed, yet this current post , which contains extremely derogatory language regarding a specific user, remains on display?

They Just Haven't Gotten Around To It Yet. You Really Shouldn't Have To Feel Left Out. I Hope I Didn't Make You Feel That Way

FIC!] That thought does occur to me. Or that the person who did the thread closing was not the normal moderator, possibly friends with whoever filed the bad post report, or just inexperienced and made a bad call because he didn't know what he was doing and should have left it to the regular moderator. Lazarus Divine has received a good many personal attacks that would need editing, displinary action against the people who made the attacks, and possibly thread closure. I assume that no one is filing bad post reports about the attacks. Possibly the irony of supressing speech in the forums while allowing the annoying signs to blight people's view in-world is more than the Linden staff can handle. A good case could be made in some of threads for closure on the grounds that no productive activity appears to be forthcoming.

I know I know, lazarus divine must be a linden, and LL realy wants to drive prices down to get more tier payers. Its all a plot by LL of course. hehehe
As far as consistent moderation, I have always felt that is a problem in these forums. Some people get banned for doing the same thing others get slapped on the wrist for. A lot of the problem is that LL does not have the resources in place to enforce everything they might like, but there is some appearance of selectivity.
I think a transparent discipline process, wher eby the community understood exactly what conduct was being punished would go along way to clearing out the forums, and ensuring that the same conduct was always punished, or let slide. LL has said privacy interests trump transparency.
I understand and accept this, but I think if that is the case, then a lot more moderation has to happen.

Starting threads (even polite ones that raise excellent questions) with the purpose of discussing moderation practices is against the ToS. Please submit all incontrovertible evidence that there are flaws in the moderation system to abuse@secondlife.com, where it will be properly ignored.

I understand and accept this, but I think if that is the case, then a lot more moderation has to happen. I think if you take their obvious staffing limitations into account that the moderation is fairly even handed. So in that light I think that the removal of Suezanne's thread was just a mistake. What I'd like to see is more Lindens coming into the forums and *admitting* their mistakes. If I make a bad post, and it occurs to me that I have, what is appropriate, and what I do, is to apologise. It would go a long way towards credibility if the Lindens actually *restored* a thread once in a while with a big SORRY attached to it. We are all human (or most of us) after all.
