Hello there.

If you ever been to the "POPULAR PLACES"
you will notice a big list of:

-Casinos
-Malls
-Camping chairs
-Sandboxes
-Clubs
-Events

Do you think there needs to be some sub-catagories?

like "Popular clubs"?
"Popular malls"?

So they wont mix together, if someone wants to go to a club, they dont have to look at the rest of the "camping chairs" and such.

Opinions are welcomed :)

This makes sense to me. I think there was a time where we could use PLACES without having to enter a 3-letter-or-longer keyword, and I did a lot of searching. There appears to be enough space between the checkboxes on the left and the text on the right to make a dropdown menu possible too. The current general selection, keeping consistent with other parts of the interface, could simply be "Any Category".

I'd also be interested to see what's the most popular Linden sandbox, even if they don't count for traffic.

Yea but.. Does LL want to damage these business models by changing the PPL in this way?
I hear people saying LL pushes the "you can make money factor" a lot in the press...

Continue ignoring the PPL and continue using the places tab I guess.

woopsie I meant to vote for the status quo ;)

More rant

A lot of people dont want to have to see the "sleazesex/money/contests" well.. AFAIK these places have a right to exist and prosper in SL or is there something I'm missing, anyone seriously thinks LL will mess with these cashcows/financial contributors?

It doesn't have to be damage—it can be used to the benefit of finding what you want, too. That's what greater sorting facilitates. The default view would probably be very much like the current, "Any Category" list anyway, as I've mentioned.

The fundamental difference here is that a Resident would have a choice to drill and narrow down further details.

And in turn make more money for the new places that will popup in PPL. :)

What an excellent idea. One problem comes to mind though. How do you get places to list themselves accurately? How to Hump Sex Balls as "educational" comes to mind in the events list. The other is what about dual use land?

Oh yes. Fantastic idea. Single most popular event type dominating? Put it in a category. Finally I can see what the most popular place for the maybe-minority who don't like Tringo is. :)

The current mature/PG checkbox should suffice to that end. :)

I have the reverse issue..

PG/G Venue, running in a Mature sim. Its too bad I can't downgrade my 'rating' on a parcel level :D

And, my hunch is - if we did have the popular places list in categories, the Shelter would be lumped in with all the Tringo Halls/Sex clubs - which.... kinda sucks.

Not that we'd be on the popular places list anyway ;)
