Save The Blue Note!

Crisis in Tulip Tree! That gem of a venue, The Blue Note is being threatened by the dark side of P2P -- a blinging script-heavy mega-store is taking shape, like some Godzilla trouncing a gem of a spot. For those of you who have been there, you know how special The Blue Note is: fantastic creative build, 24/7 jazz and the amazing Saturday Night Swinging Dances hosted by DJ Naydee.

The Blue Note is one of those special places in SL -- romantic, fun, not a camping chair to be found.

Come out Wednesday Night, December 21, 7:00 SL time for a dance-in, sit-in, brainstorming evening to figure out a way to save this hip, unique, and valuable venue.

DJ Naydee will be spinning tracks all night long as friends come together in support.

I joined Second Life in September 2005 so I am fairly new to this program. I have posted a number of things on here from comments to questions and in almost every case I have received fantastic comments and answers, so thank you very much. Now I have another question/comment. And also need everyone's help. There is a dance club called:
"The Blue Note Jazz Lounge" that I have been going to since I have been in SL. It is a great club and a outstanding build which is open 24/7 for everyone to enjoy. It has fantastic and amazing Saturday Night Swinging Dances. A place to have good clean fun, relax, meet with friends and probably one of the best clubs there is in SL. Recently a person under the name of Trickeydickey Lorentz rented the property adjunct to the Blue Note and has put up a store for DJ and Dance Club items. This is a script heavy store and is causing major problems for the blue note, especially when a lot of people visit the club. To me this is not right when the actions of one person impact those of another. The land the blue note is on is owned by a group and have invested good hard cash to build this place and keep it a good, clean, place to go, while this other person is only renting the property. It apears to me that this is unfair. Why can't something be done about this. Here a person has taken their money and time to build a business/club only to have it mauled. I am not trying to flame anyone, don't believe in that stuff, but this person who has opened up this store has even threatened to load it up with more heavy scripting and this will make it impossible for the Blue Note to be a functional club. What can be done to stop this from happening. We need everyones support, see the activites section please for more on what you can do to help.

I might have a solution for the Blue Note. I've sent an IM to Naydee about it. Doubt I'll be awake for the 7pm meeting but there'll be some discussion going on before then so with luck there'll be some good news.

Thank you for your offer Melina I really think that it would have been a great place for the Blue Note, but in talking with Melina .. she noted that she couldnt get into her home at all ... last week when I was DJing on a Sunday afternoon... and I apologized profusely. It is a problem when I do host my one event a week. My Land group also has another DJ involved... and that is DJ Nexeus Fatale who is absolutely amazing ... but his Genre is House/Trance .. and Cosy Home really cant .. and doesnt want to handle that type of music *smiles* and I totally understand the need for a lil peace and tranquility.

There will be many options and in the future of the New Year, I will look into all of them. Our best opportunity will be a beach, mature and on the edge of two sims....My stream only holds 60 ppl ..... so that way .. either sim will not close down... it can only hold up to 30 ppl on each side... and I will make sure that the Blue Note cannot *fit* more than that
*smiles* .... So, if we are able to sell our beach, we will consider moving. Its alot of work and alot of planning to be done. The Blue Note will not die if I can help it

I would just like to add my voice to Garnets and Melinas about moving to Cosy (as long as the lag does not turn out to be too bad) Since we have an event area at Cosy that is on the beach, is mature and also stradles two sims, it seems that Cosy might be precisely what you are looking for.

One suggestion for the lag is a nude swing club.
The lag woudn't be half as bad if folks checked the prim skirts and wigs at the door!
(that's a joke even though it's true)

Possibly we could have a test party when the second sim is terraformed and the dance floor is setup to see how bad it gets. The day we had the horrible lag it was laggy all over second life so it might have not been the party.

Sounds like a PLAN!!! I can pick up the Blue Note .. and set it right down on the borders... of both sims when they are ready and we can have a super beach Blue Note Party and test it out... see if we can function The Saturday after New Years Eve would be perfect .. if its ready!

You would have to okay it with Melina and everyone else first of course, but I am totally game to see if it works.

I love the whole atmosphere you have created with the club and its certainly a good fit with the Cosy Islands laid back atmosphere.

This would be a really good test of whether it's the Blue Note itself causing the lag or not. Sometimes there is just one poorly written script in one object that brings everything else down. I cant see why two sims couldnt contain your typical party crowd and keep on chugging.

It also *might* be all the prim hair that's at fault though (hope not).

I'm looking forward to the experiment, though maybe not a nude swing event. Could be a little bit too much swing there, which could be distracting at best

Funnnnnnnnnn... I've been to the Blue Note scarce few times (once? twice?) since Saturday nights are pretty much SL-verboten for me, but if I can help out (musically, presumably), let me know! I miss you, Naydee, I've been holding a song for you for MONTHS, but you gotta show UP for me to sing it to you!

As for many, may of you, I know the Blue Note has a special place in your heart. It's got a lot of meaning for me and I know it does for you.

Please Naydee...if there's ANYTHING one of us can do short of crashing the sim every 10 seconds for him (hmm) we'll do it. I'll do it. My landlord has some good land that I bet he'd love to let you borrow or rent out in the meantime.

I love the blue note. I would be so depressed if it was gone. ;_;

ahh no, we arent purposely crashing sims........ but our swing parties have crashed one .. err two, um okay, probably a few I know The SL sims crashed when I DJ'ed to 4 sims for the SLCC. (luckily we had three left to play in) hehe

Yes, we have given up on the Cosy Home idea. Still looking for mainland, mature beachfront on the border of two sims. (no, we would not crash two sims) but I think that *Cosy* home would be a little too Cozy......for the other residents' comfort on Saturday Nights. Thanks for the offer Mel But we really want to find a place where we are going to be able to *dance, romance and swing* .. without inconveniencing people.


I am up for finding a place to play on Saturday, January the 7th...... if we dont find a new home for the Blue Note by then.
