Video creations

I am quite good creating videos, 3d video logos etc, and would like to offer my services to some of the groups/buisnesses centered around video but have no idea where to start, How do you do a classified ad or would it be considered bad form to just contact the owners of said buisnesses directly.

You can start with the in-world Classifieds (they cost $L) in the Find window and the Classifieds forum here (free, but the forums are a much smaller audience.

Actualy getting customers is hard though, unless your work really stands out from the crowd or is a very high-demand service/item. I don't know if there's any demand for 3d video logos and such in SL but it's not something I would pay any attention to. ^_^ Before you get under way, it would probably be best to talk to people, see what sort of need/demand there is and draw up a short business/marketing plan based on that. Then start posting Classifiedes.

"Directly contacting busines owners" can be dicey. Talking to them when they're online can be ok but expect to hear a lot of "not interested, leave me alone" replies (and at the same time, respect their wishes). Be carefull not to cross into the territory of spamming, i.e. pestering after someone has said "no", dropping unsolicited notecards on them, etc, as that will only generate annoyed people, anger and abuse reports.

Alt-Zoom Studios (do a group search) is a group dedicated to making Machinima videos in SL. I know that's not quite the kind of video you're interested in, but they may have a lot of resources and contacts you might benifit from and they likely won't mind answering questions.

Thanks I enjoy making vids in what not in rl I'm a mass media major and I spend all day at work surrounded by highend video editing machines. So this seemed like a good idea.
