Hello as the title states ive setup a Second Life Bug Tracker

this is an attempt to compile a list of bugs from as many residents as possible, so many times in these forums we talk and gripe about different bugs, and within those threads are more and more bugs.

Due to Linden Labs lack of a bug reporting tool it makes it extreamly hard to keep track of what bugs are out there and if they have been fixed.

if you wish to participate there is a link @ the bottom of this post for the SLBT website, there is no signup required, but you may if you wish ... since the site was offically deemed ready for use just a few min ago there is only 1 moderator, me

If you wish to help out with the moderation (keeping cussing down, killing dupe bugs ect) please register on the website and let me know you wish to be a mod, by e-mailing me, inworld instant message, this forum's private message system, or if any of those dont work for you, respond below in this thread

The goal of this project is not to complain about LL, please keep that off of the site. The goal is to gather our thoughts on which bugs, ... well bug us the most

Hopefully it will allow us to know which bugs were fixed, which ones were new and so on, as it stands atm they tell us X amount of bugs were fixed, and i personally want to know which ones were a product of the last patch, which ones were old bugs and if I/we should get excited or not :)

please check it out

Thank you
Osgeld Barmy

This is a good idea, and I hope LL will look at it.
BTW, could you add in a Linux Client option to the Products section? ^_^

The opening TOS page is quite garrish and hard on the eyes...

*bump for visibility*
What does everyone else think of this?
Feature request is the closest thing we have to a visible bug tracker, and we can't use it for bugs :P

ok the php system im currently using (bugdar) is causing nothing but issues on my database so im gonna switch it over to something called mantis, which is better but doesnt include some of the features bugdar did

offically round 2 of this fight will start as soon as i finish posting this.. the site will be down untill i finish later tonight

in addition i will change the tos page, add in platform selections and some other stuff that came to me while fooling around with my company's asp site today.

thank you for your comments sofar and hopefully this will catch on abit better with the smoother system

and ty Jesse Malthus for your props :)

some of you might be wondering at this point why im not using bugzilla, thats an ez 3 letter awnser ... CGI which my hosting plan doesnt support and i dont really feel like upgrading for a pet project :)

Hell0

the slbt has been down for a cupple weeks, which i know is a lifetime in the internet world ....

what happened is i forgot to pay a bill and got my dsl shut off for a week, when it came back on its about as stable as a 1 legged dog, running up an icy hill ... which is where i stand at this point in time

since the only means of connection atm is a pentium 90 laptop with 8megs of ram and a 28.8 pcmcia modem as a proxy you could imagine the "slow goins"

anywho the site has been back up since sunday running the Mantis system, mantis is really good, almost as good as bugzilla but it really lacks quick customization, theres a whole news section of me asking for some help in this department (ie the search is WAY OVERBLOWN for SL)

under the mantis features you can now provide abit more detail (and alot of options for useless detail in this case ... see above) and the choice to either add in platform info or choose from one of my preset profiles (M$ Winblows, mac and nix flavors)

alnog with slightly more detailed clent version info (mostly the addition of a generic linux SL version tag) more appealing interface, quicker response times (well my host is a varible in that, you ppl need to hit it to make it dedicate more resources) better moderation controls, more user aceess levels blah blah blah

since linden labs has started updating their "known issues" list ... after i thought of this thing, the need for windows and mac users may be light atm, most of my request have been from the *nix community, and so i will post a new thread over in the linux testers fourm (i havent yet)

your opinions suggestions and code is most appreciated, this is still not a project i intend to dedicate my life to, but i still feel it has a need, im sorry i have delayed the system for practally 3 weeks now, but please be assured ive paied for that uploading THOUSANDS of files over dialup with a computer i bought in 1994 :)

Thanks

oh i almost forgot LSL scripters ive got tons of space and bandwidth, if you wish to provide a public bug tracker for your projects please contact me, mantis can handle many many different projects and future plans (if ppl take notice of this) is to incorperate a blog sytem... sorta like a cross between geocitys and sourceforge ...

which sould provide a nice platform for you to toot your horn in your own style and take care of the dirty work in one place :)
