Well one way, is if you can open it in game you can always copy it and paste it to a word doc since you are the owner..

jouch, i imagine, it is a full fledge book, they usually are rather large.. and you can only copy and paste so much..
but a shortcut to get everything in the book, is to put your cursor in there, and hit ctrl and a at the same time, it will highlight everything. Than click ctrl and c at the same time go to your word doc click in there and hit ctrl and v at the same time.. hoepfully its not to big to copy and paste at once. ![]() |

Rita, is it a THiNC book? Sometimes you can attach them to your HUD, but if you can't modify it to your screen size...

you can not read that kind of book offline... you will have to read it in game or alternatively you can buy a copy of it from the bookstore. Some books get published both in SL and in RL. Check with the creator of the book, they can give you more info.
As for the size of the book I think you're supposed to attach them to your hud to read or switch to mouselook... I honestly read like one in game once but I dont remember what I did to make it readable... Troy _____________________

As an in-world bookseller, I can answer all your questions.
1. You cannot read the book offline, or outside of SL, in the state in which you purchased it. 2. You can obtain the book for free (if it was in fact a public domain book, which it would have to be in order to be legally sold within SL, unless the creator is the author or publisher). A site with a very hefty collection of free e-books is Project Gutenberg at www.gutenberg.net. The files you obtain will look somewhat different from most in-world books, since they will be a flat text ASCII file, and the text formating can be somewhat hard to read at times. Fortunatly, there are some good free e-book programs that you can download (unfortunatly I dont have the URL or names for any of them offhand) that will make them significantly easier to read. In response to copying of books with copy/paste... This only works with notecard text books. 3D Books (like THiNC Book) do not work in this way. While it is possible to get all the images from a 3D book (and I will not tell you how), a large 3D book could have as many as a couple hundred textures. Think of the time the creator spent making the book... So my recommendation is this, especially if it is a classical literary work, either download the ASCII text file from Project Gutenberg, or purchase a copy from your local bookstore. _____________________

You probably need to rez it on the ground and click it.. Sometimes they rez a chair that will position you correctly to read the book

either download the ASCII text file from Project Gutenberg, or purchase a copy from your local bookstore. (When will they finally get finished with the library they are building across the street from me?) _____________________

Is this actually my book on sex in SL, i.e. The Joy of Second Life Sex? If so, please do not confuse it with those horrid horrid rip off Dummies books <g>. But I don't think you have one of the Dummies books because they are note card books.
If it's not focusing, give it some time. It's a texture, and sometimes SL does not like to rez textures. If you are still having problems with the book, please IM me online. Marla Truss _____________________

Well, my book could be one of those joke books with blank pages <g>.
But actually, it came out pretty well. It's sixty some pages, touching on everything from basic mechanics to romance to furries to bdsm. It's not really an in-depth book but it's a great introduction to the depth and variety of sex in SL. _____________________

Hello Everyone, I've been seeing this topic has a bit of interests. I'm the creator of THiNC Books and the THiNC Printing Press that makes they publications people distribute. These books are all based on images. Like all images we know on SL can take awhile to rez. Depending the size of the image it may even take longer. I try to make any books I make the image size under 1024 x 1024. I try to get it under 512 x 512 but that's pretty hard if you have text. But normally if these sizes of images are kept down, the THiNC books works well.
I would recommend lowering your draw distance so you concentrate on the textures closer to you. If any of you have questions IM me I'll gladly help what I can. If you are interested in the THiNC Books or THiNC Printing Press visit my store at Lota (10,15,278) . |
