Linden Lab Defenseless Against Griefer Attacks

LL needs a Response Team that handles instances of griefing immediately. My group members and the security team we hired spent 5 hours this morning defending our 30,000 meters and begging Linden Lab employees to assist us. We got the standard 'call us Monday' response while the griefers gleefully released self replicating objects that filled our parcels and had our items returned to our inventory. Of course, the group-owned items went to oblivion.

We are stressed and sleep deprived and competely disenchanted with Second Life. The island we ordered now seems like a very bad idea. Linden Labs has got to step up and do something about this ever increasing issue. Sitting around like peace loving liberals while free account hooligans harass paying customers is the worst customer service plan since automated e-mail reponses.

Linden Lab DO SOMETHING. The community needs response, protection and decisive leadership. Our investments of time, money and energy are at stake - and believe me - so is yours.

Good Point... RE: Free Account Griefers

Did you not get an online Linden Liaison to come to your sims to at least talk and/or kick the griefers? I have found the on duty Liaisons to always be very responsive and helpful.

After all, they are online and on duty to supervise Live Help, maintain the grid and respond to emergencies such as you describe 24/7.

Sorry to hear of your trouble.

Im sorry to hear you was attacked. One thing you can always do is return all items that belong to the person. If you arent sure how?

1. You edit the object look to see who OWNS it.

2. Then have a officer of the land to goto land options at teh top of the screen and click on objects.

3. Then get a list of all the peoples names that have stuff there and then just return it to there inventory!

It works i have had to do it on my own land cause my g/f wanted to see what a gun would do (lol).

If you have a group, you can set the land to group, and set the land to return anyone else's objects after a short period. That should help control any griefing with objects.

The private island is a very good idea if you have problems, as you will then be able to freeze or eject, set a ban list and prevent people from getting there at all if you wish. One word of advice...don't allow landmarking on the island at all, and stick all the griefers on the banned list straight away. Of course you can keep the island invisible, and only allow people who have invitations to come there.

Items that are set to a group should still have an owner (person) as far as I know and get returned to that person.

I could be mistaken of course , wouldnt be the first time.

So......hmmm, so you are demanding they should act like war-mongering conservatives?

Your group items are not returned because someone rezzes multiple objects.

Ever heard of "auto-return"? Ever heard of "ban avatar"?

What is it, that you should have special attention, where Linden staff should simply drop what they are doing and attend to you?

Nobody likes griefers, I sympathize with this happening to you......but LL is right. Wait till Monday and phone the 800 number, like everyone else.

I had a really good experience with griefers on Friday night - myself and a few other people were in the rezzing area next to Busy Bens in Balance, and a couple people were screwing aroung with guns and caging us, orbiting us, etc.

Over the span of about half an hour, I put in four abuse reports to the system, and then called for help on Live Help. Within minutes Deana Linden was on the scene, and the griefers were no more.

In your case, I would have: (1) sat on a chair, (2) banned the people from your land, (3) made the land no-build, and (4) made the land no-script, and (5) turned auto-return to 1 minute. After that, they will go away, because they can't touch you, they have to manually move prims onto your land, which you can either delete or return, and they just won't be having any fun. After they are gone, you can turn build and script back on again.

Of course, everyone from your party should be submitting abuse reports, and you should call for help using Live Help (which the Lindens monitor).

HDS (Home Detection System) i.e. - llautoreturn as a new menu perhaps might help. Esp. on weekends.

This should be made common knowledge. Simple steps we all can take using tools we already have.

Note that you really don't want to do this unless you already have auto-return on, because otherwise you may end up returning lots of your own stuff.

Assuming your land is group land, if you bring up the About Land dialog, and click on the objects tab, the only non-zero entry should be under "Set to group" under "Objects on parcel:" If it isn't grouped land, everything should be under "Owned by parcel owner:".

Actually 4 lindens did show up last night, and well, all the griefers were ejected and banned from the land, however, they sat at the edge of the parcel, using loud sounds and insulting other players to grief them and using particles to increase the lag, and there was nothing we could do about it because they were on "protected" land. Of course as i said, 4 lindens actually showed up, one teleported them home they came right back of course, one of the Lindens told them to stop, but they didnt, it lasted 5 hours or so.

so would a home security orb work in this case, not really, they were on protected land. not only would that have not worked, but we had hired a security company just for this reason, of course they got them all off the land, but since they were on protected land. nothing could be done. this is where the shortfalls come. standing on the edge of your propertry insulting and using scripts from outside your land to affect you in your land.

Oh dear, I thought this could no longer happen? I thought there was a fix so that the owner's objects wouldn't be returned?
