Sitting on a cliff, overlooking the sea
I sat upon my land and watched a sunset.
Waves rippled before me, Rays bounced off the water
and the sun began to slowly sink.
Like molasses, the orange orb dropped,
casting its hues across the grass
And caressing nearby buildings
Into their golden state.
As the stars began to pop from the sky
and twinkle before my eyes
A friend stopped by to join me
And we chatted for awhile.
After some time, talking and laughing
we bade our goodbyes and he continued on his way.
I sat on my cliff and whispered to the stars
What else shall you bring my way?
I was approached quietly by a stranger,
one new to our world and ways.
We sat for awhile, discussing the world
and the wonders it contained.
Only passing through, he asked for direction
and I set his compass right.
Thanking me for the kindness,
he smiled and wandered out of sight.
I turned back toward the sea
and chuckled to myself
wondering if I would see the stranger again
perhaps his name up in lights?
Waves rolled in and misted below
the sun now only a sliver of light
Clouds drifted by overhead
swirling in their cottony dance.
I was invited to join my friends
for a song at a nearby lounge
though I politely said maybe later
and smiled at the warm request.
Moon rising at my back
and stars twinkling above,
The sun waved its farewell
and dove into the sea.
I looked to the sky
and thanked the world
for the evening of peace
and the moment of happiness.
For old friends, for new,
for strangers and familiar faces,
For the opportunities and challenges
For the chance to watch a sunset.
Thank you all for the amazing experience and
Happy Birthday, Second Life.
