Just curious...with all this talk about our ResMods and such, I am curious to know how many people file Abuse Reports anyway? I personally have not filed an abuse report here on the forums and I think I have filed 1 in world.

You would never know unless the Linden investigating the AR decides that the report is valid. If the Linden determines the AR is valid but not worth diciplinary action, your post may be deleted or moved without any further input. If diciplinary action (even a warning) *IS* in order, you would get an e-mail from the Lindens.
So it's possible you both got ARed numerous times, or no times, but if you haven't heard from the Lindens then the ARs were likely unfounded. _____________________

I think in the year & a half I've been here, I've filed two forum ARs.
It takes quite a bit to get me worked up... for me to 'click the button', it usually has to be such an extreme violation that I'll likely be just one voice in a chorus anyway ![]() _____________________

I reported one fairly obvious troll for some very dubious homophobic remarks, but that's it.
These forums are an absolute haven of civility on the internet, you know. |

I have reported just a few posts ever - despite what some bloggers may think.
My wish for resmods to not have access to the info has nothing to do with trying to "hide" my reports because I fear that someone may find that I ARed someone, or how often. It's this simple: In-world volunteers are not part of the AR chain, and I don't think they need to be here either. I don't have much issue with them sequestering threads based upon anonymous ARs, but anything beyond that is simply unnecessary. They don't need to know this info to perform their job, which, as I understand it, is to move or sequester threads for review by real mods. Let's say a thread gets ARed 15 times by the same person (I doubt anyone does this - though I have seen this used as an example for some reason.. ) - what possible good does it do for the resmods to know this? They cannot act upon it, and are still left with the same moderation abilities. Then there is the possibilty that they go in-world and spill the beans, the target subsequently finds out, and the situation is escalated rather than defused as intended.LL has refused forever now to reveal any AR info - in-world or on forums, so vigorously that this move honestly has me scratching my head. LL has stated that the reason for not including names on the blotter is to prevent retribution. So what gives? _____________________

One AR in forums, ever. And like Travis, the post in question was so inflammatory, I'm sure my AR was just a drop in the bucket.
I simply don't find much bothersome to the degree that I would AR. Annoying yes, but I don't care what people say to me or about me for the most part. Trolling and flaming are ignored and I just go about my bidnazz. _____________________

I've never posted an AR, in-world or here. Came close a couple times though.
I'm also not following the AR emails I get either (in part cuz I'm too lazy to fire up gmail 24/7). I'm actually experimenting with just looking at more threads than I used to (such as this one ). That puts a damper on how *much* of the forums one can look at any one time, but it also produces better discussion long-term I think.*waves* :link: _____________________

i have never filed an AR here.. or in-world either to my recollection.. except for maybe when i was a n00b and did so by mistake.. maybe.
as far as ResMods knowing where they're coming from, we pretty much all agree that we shouldn't be able to see who is sending them, but there is a suggestion that we know if they're coming from the same person by some anonymous key, like an arbitrary number or something. the reason for knowing if multiple ARs come from one person is so we know if a thread is causing a disturbance amongst mant Resis or if it's just one who has multiple problems within the same thread, thus letting us know to what level of concern a thread may be evoking a response. not to say one opinion isn't as valuable as many, but it's a brighter red flag if it's being reported by many. _____________________

I've never reported anyone for anything, and likely won't ever get reported.
Who cares what I say anyway? I'm not sure I could get anyone worked up enough to... do whatever it is you do to cry for mommy around here. Does anyone else see the irony? Imagine two people more than enough to know better, getting upset and 'reporting' each other just so someone likely young enough to be their child can take disciplinary measures. To earn a 'report' from me, you'll have to not only be rude, but original, expressive, and compelling enough to read while offending. And I'd be more likely to report you to the staff of Onion.com for freelance work in that case. _____________________

I've been around since 2003, and in that time I filed one AR against Ulrika, for a gratuitously nasty posting aimed at a forum member.

I have never filed an AR in the forums. I don't really care how "heated" things get between people, and if I find it's really starting to piss me off I take a break from forums for a few days.
There have been some comments that I considered over the line, but I never AR'd them because people do have the right to spout off whatever they want, no matter how rude, obnoxious, or stupid it is. I have filed maybe 2 AR's in world. Some guy IM'd me to tell me to leave his girlfriend alone or he was going to deal with me (wtf? I didn't know who he was talking about!). After looking at his ghetto ass profile and seeing that he was a member of some "mafia" club, I said screw it and sent the AR in. I didn't feel like dealing with a moron who has to drag alone 20 friends to harrass one person for no friggen reason. (Yes, I explained that I had no clue what he was going on about, and he told me that I was lying, rofl. whatever nutcase!) |

I think I get reported once in a whlie, because I'm a prankster. I happen to think it's funny to hide in someone's house and make farty noises until they find me.
The one time a Linden came and talked to me about my (mis)behaviour, I was experimenting by building house on top of house in someone's huge backyard. My 512 is a little too tiny for this sort of stuff, and I hate the sandboxes because they're always full, or full of people shooting guns. I think I had about 25 houses stacked on top of each other, and then another 3 that had fallen into the lake. There was no one else in the area, so I don't know who spotted me. Now I know that big brother is always watching. |

I've never filed an abuse report inworld or in the forum. I've never used the land ban tools either. But then I'm a cold unfeeling freak of nature that will never understand people's mindset when they log into a public, Internet based, colaborative socializing medium then want to be left all alone. Prokofy hits the nail on the head when he says that our best anitgriefing tool is the logout button.
