For a few hours every day, some kind of raffle ball is shouting its messages across an entire sim. I thought I could live with it, but it's more irritating than I'd anticipated. There are several businesses in the area where it could be located, but I can't find it in any of them. Is there an easy way to find it?
The object name (which I can't recall since I haven't logged in since last night) preceeds the shout text, and I wonder if that could be useful to some kind of location script or debug option?
If I could just find out who the owner is, maybe I could get him/her to stop it shouting without having to go the AR route.

Use a sensor script and put the name into the llSensor or llSensorRepeat bit and have it llOwnerSay the loc to you.

string annoyingshout = "name of the object"; default { state_entry() { } touch_start(integer det) { llSensor(annoyingshout, "",SCRIPTED|PASSIVE, 96, PI) } sensor(integer detected) { llOwnerSay("Found @ " + (string)llDetectedPos(0)); } no_sensor() { llOwnerSay("Havent picked anything up yet.."); } }

Look for a casino or club... they're almost always the culprits.

Just set up a house
08-02-2006 05:18
And one of my lovely new neighbors has set up a rapid fire shouting raffle ball, I already turn off sound because mose places have music I cant stand. I too am loking to buy a gigantic Monty Python hammer to squash everything in the area flat.
My house has a basic security system too an I am suprised by just how many of my neighbors have been trying to go into it. Is this normal or is tht thought of going through my pantie drawer when I'm not there just irrestiable?

If I could just find out who the owner is, maybe I could get him/her to stop it shouting without having to go the AR route. integer listener; string recorded; default { state_entry() { llListenRemove(listener); listener = llListen(0, "", "", ""); } listen(integer chan, string name, key agent, string msg) { recorded = msg; llSensor(name, agent, ~AGENT|PASSIVE|ACTIVE|SCRIPTED, 100.0, TWO_PI); } sensor(integer num_det) { llOwnerSay("Object \"" + llDetectedName(0) + "\" said: " + recorded); llOwnerSay("Location: " + (string)llDetectedPos(0)); llOwnerSay("Key: " + (string)llDetectedKey(0)); } } Stick this in an object and wear the object. If you are in range to hear what the annoying shoutyball says, this'll tell you the name, location, and key of it, along with whatever it just said.

I'd certainly hope no one does that, because, you know, it might slightly slow the sim more than the 100 pieces of bling per person in whatever club those balls are in, each person with their own bajillion listeners on 0, shitloads of particles, and 500 prims each. WE'RE ALL DOOMED IF YOU USE MYYYYYYYYYY SCRIPT! But yeah, don't wear it when you don't have to. Same goes for the bling.

From: Sally Seattle Can you not just mute the object? That's too easy You can mute objects in SL just like you can mute people. It's on the "History" button of chat, big blue thing says "Mute Resident" - the drop down list allows you to select the object that's shouting. Note: You can mute Xcite spam too, kids!
