I just want to take a moment to thank Jeska and the other Lindens for telling us what's wrong when things go wrong.

It may seem trivial, but to those of us that have been a part of many other online worlds that did not have NEARLY the Linden's level of full disclosure it's very appreciated.

I have to agree with Lasivian, it is appreciated. Knowing that you're fixing an important bug like this makes the wait much easier. As Lasivian said, the near full disclosure is much different from other worlds, and we're glad to have it.

Well, if you have been part of many other online worlds you should know - and follow the following rule.

I just popped over here to post a thread like this...

It is rather nice to actually hear why the grid is down, rather than hear nothing and wait... and wait... and wait. Excellent business practice in my mind. I would rather the grid be down for a week and know why than have it down for a day and never hear anything.

Just wanted to throw a "You guys ROCK" out to the Lindens for this. ;)

I would rather it not go down at all. ^.^;
All the same, knowing what's wrong is better than waiting alone in the dark clutching your mouse, fruitlessly trying to log in while you wait for the grid to return.

FWIW, I appreciate Linden Labs' efforts at keeping us informed, warts and all!

It means they're on top of things. And less chance of something going horribly, horribly wrong.

If something went wrong - glad it's caught and fixed before it goes back up.

A slightly longer wait today means less chance of a wait tomorrow.

Exactly... and the fact that they caught the bug and immediately took action is more than I can say for some other companies I've had dealings with. It's a refreshing experience.

I've been in sales and marketing in RL for about 13 years now, and the 1st rule of good service is "underpromise and overdeliver". If you tell someone their issue will take 5 hours to fix, and it takes 5 hours or less to fix it... happy customer. If it takes longer... your in trouble. :)

Furthermore, as Second Life goes to the Metaverse, and this becomes an open platform, Linden Lab risks lawsuit in court and [attachment culling] will, I repeat WILL be reverse in court.
