I'm curious to know if such a place exists which displays Linden created objects. There is at least one Linden created object I know of which is not included in the library, yet is free to copy, and I suspect there are more. Does anybody know where these "extra" objects can be picked up in game?

You could try Stillman bazaar. There are a lot of free-to-copy items there, and some of them are made with Linden labour.
Put free or freebies into the find menu and you should come up with some other places too.
