How many alternate accounts can one have?

Last time I played SL, there was a limit on the amount of accounts a household could have. I think it was 5 per household. Has that changed? I had 5 in my household but could not remember my own password or it would not let me log in(maybe it's been too long since I logged in and my account was put on hold ?)
So I created a new account and to my surprise it worked! Last time I tried it said I could not because too many in household limit.
So is there no limit now?

There's no verification whatsoever anymore. At least the last time I checked...so technically you could probably make 100 or more lol if you have that kind of time.

With open enrollment, I don't think there is a limit anymore. Though LL states they reserve the right to ask you to remove alts at thier descression.

I once had sex with my alt, and it was the best I ever had!! Well until she dumped me that is *sighs*. Actually I don't have a alt yet, but sooner or later I might make one to be more of a business type of person. Then again I could just use my main for that. I have a hard enough time keeping up with him, let alone a alt.

It's still written that way in a lot of Linden paperwork, but the reality is that with the new, steamlined (lobotomized) registration system, they just aren't checking any more. I made 3 alts in 15 minutes as a test, shortly after the new rules went into effect, all using valid e-mail addresses but otherwise bogus information. I later cancelled all three accounts. But I was never charged for any of them. How could they charge me? None of them gave any credit info. And since they don't even bother to verify that the e-mail address works... I suppose that if you created 20 free alts, and later gave the same credit card info for all of them, that they might still be able to charge you for the 'extra accounts'. But that would probably get them a ton of complaints, for unfairly charging people for the 'privilege' of spending money directly from each alt.
