I mean seriously. With what's all thats going on. Not that I'm dissing the development team here or nothing. But, With the little manpower they have it seems with everything popping up, 'seemingly over night'. A lot of us could indeed help out in supporting the software.
What do you think?

With the potentiality of the platform for E-Business and the evolution of the internet...I rather doubt SL will ever become open source.
SL is what I'd consider the Microsoft Windows 3.1 of virtual communities. Sure 3.1 doesn't look all that impressive any more...but Windows rules the world more or less now.
Second Life is far too lucrative, in terms of software concepts, to be simply Open Sourced.
It would take a true idealist...and a rather blind one, at that, to go Open Source with this software.

Huh? SL has about zilch valuable stuff in the client. Nobody talks about open sourcing the backend, and even that wouldn't change much as SL needs the big server farm behind it.
