I dont know what to do. I keep getting landmarks over landmarks and collect them. I have tried to divide by folders. Like, a folder for "malls", for "galleries", "interesting places to visit", "friend's homes" ect.... ect...

But it is just still doen't work. Is there anyone that has another method? Or is it plain thinking... "you are a slave of your landmark folder"

I have so many now. Two years over collecting landmarks. I have visited the places to check if the landmark still good and when I go is a new building. So guess what I do? Collect the new landmark because the place is interesting!!! And there it goes, another landmark to the pile!!!

In my landmarks, some tags are red, some are brown... does anyone know why? I think nobody ever answered me when I asked once.

Anyway, just in case someone has a way... let me know... ty

Here's what I do

Hiyas here's what I do. I've created several folders in my landmarks folder and as I visit a place i put it in the appropriate folder ie: clubs, malls, clothing, hair, scenic spots etc.

Then once they are sorted into the folders, I open up a notecard and drag each of the landmarks onto the notecard. Occasionally I run into a landmark that for some reason isn't copyable so that stays in the folder otherwise I delete the original landmark. I keep the notecard in the appropriate folder under landmarks.

I copy new landmarks to the notecard at the end of my visit to the place or the end of the day before I log off.

When I want to go back to the place I open the notecard, teleport/copy to inventory delete it from my inventory again (remember it's still on my notecard)

This method works great because I can make notes next to the landmarks so I remember better as to why I kept a landmark in the first place.

Hope this makes sense and helps.

*slaps herself on the forehead* I make landmark notecards all the time, why didn't I ever think of that?!

I tend to be an organization freak with my inventory, but with 14k+ items it's almost hopeless - and inventory is growing exponentially now that I'm trying to create things. I even have a "Projects" folder with a couple dozen subfolders for all the stuff I'm working on.

It helped immensely when I was shown that I could use multiple inventory windows at once by using "File-> New Window", which got me through that horrible mistake of an inventory sort update we got a few weeks ago. Some of my folders are so huge it takes forever to drag something up to the top of the screen and get it to scroll.

Ashlynne, thanks for the reminder - I need to do this more often :)

My inventory is creepy and dirty and cold :( Oh I make category folders like I learned on willows inventory article for pixel pinup .. butttttt i dont actually ever put things in them.. I mean I put things in them.. but never whats supposed to go in them. If it wasnt for search Id be so lost. Landmarks I never keep .. I delete them all and just use find and when a place goes unlisted or something .. again Im lost :P

Doh. I could've had a V8.

After failing to embrace any of the 6 sorting methods I tried, I used the file marked "Trash" and have done with LMs for good. I simply couldn't abide those uncooperative LMs and showed them who the boss was.

Wow, that is such a good idea, the notecards, thank you!

My landmarks are a mess, they remind me of my bookmarks... :shudder:

Skimming the topic titles just now on the forum, I read "Best way to organize Landmarks" as "Best way to organize Landsharks".

wtf?

The problem with inventory management is non-copyable items getting moved anytime you make an outfit, so you have this nice little folder system that is all shot to hell.

*cries*

/hates inventory

.

here's what i do ...

on each landmark i add a first word-catagory to each Landmark
to indicate what the landmark relates to ...
then i click SORT so the landmarks fall into alphabetical order
of their catagories, some of which are ...

clothing - BareRose blah blah blah (location)
dance -
friends -
hair -
jewely -
places -
shoes -

(this list is all in the SAME Landmark folder ... not in separate folders)

Landmarks suck, as they tend to become outdated rather frequently. Tonight I think I will delete them all. It would be really cool to have special landmarks that were tied to an object, like a real-life landmark. So a shopowner could pick up his or her sign at an old store location and plop it out at the new one, and you'd still be able to find the place without even knowing the store had moved.

The notecard method, and sorting by common-first-words method mentioned here are brilliant though, and I may go around notecarding my handful of regular haunts and categorize them that way. Thanks for the tips.
