Is there a simple way to put text on a prim from within the SL client (without creating a texture in a graphics editor)? Like the word 'ENTER' on a door. Maybe a way to copy text from a note card, or snapshot a note card and upload? Or is there a gadget I could get to do this? thanks.

That's one of the many reasons people are eagerly anticipating HTML on a prim. For texture solutions, there's an open source called XyText by the wonderful Xylor (see the scripting library in the forums)... and you can also use "floating" text using llSetText. Thank you. I write specs, not code, so I doubt I could handle the scripting. I'll figure out something.

One of the first things I did with textures it upload A-Z and 0-9 in black textures on a white background, if this is any use to you let me know and I'll try and hunt them down and send them over ![]() _____________________

If you want to play with floating text above a door, it's probably one of the easiest scripts to figure out how to modify.

Thanks Zapoteth. I'll try them out when I log in tonight.
Lora, thanks for the suggestion. I'll try it at some point. I'm new and I'm still learning the basics of building, landscaping and how to make my hat fit my head. |

...and how to make my hat fit my head. That's never gonna happen! I've made all sorts of hats for myself in SL and I've never managed to get a hat that doesn't either look like you're had it melded with your head in a weird DNA splicing experiement or looks like it's balancing on a point just on the top of your head and not touching the sides. Of course, that could just be me ![]() _____________________
