OK apparently Hotline to the Lindens is no more so I'll pose my question here, I am hopeful a Linden will see and reply.
My Credit Card was flagged by my bank for an unusal billing and called to confirm that I had indeed been the one to authorize payment. They said it was Linden Labs...I'm like yeah that's fine...but they have been billing me for over a year why flag my card now? They told me that LL is out of Great Britan and any out of country billings are verified. Hehe So what's up?
And man I hope they don't call me in another 3 months 'cuz my card gets flagged again lol

There's a couple of things that cause this: 1. Unsual transaction patterns, or costly transactions, appearing at quick succession on a credit card. I had this happen to me this week and, worse, over Christmas whilst I was in the middle of shopping. It was a pain, but there you go. 2. There are phases when a particular type of fraud, or from a particular country or location, is common and credit card companies routinely check more transactions. Around the 3rd quater last year anybody purchasing from a UK company from Canada using a credit card would have the transaction declined as a matter of course unless they'd already spoken to their CC company about it. It's nothing to worry about and it won't be LL's fault (unless they have a high volume of charge backs, in which case the bank might have flagged them as dodgy - that's what happened to me whilst shopping at Christmas after visiting a certain store - but I doubt LL is in that position as more people would have problems). Card companies are becoming much more proactive, which is good. Anyway, I've dribbled enough

No wasn't thinking it was LL's fault except I was wondering why they were billing out of Great Britan...THAT was a major flag for my company, yeah and I did use my card a lot in the last week

The Hotline is still alive - as Second Life Answers - but for billing questions, which are typically private issues, you'd probably be better off contacting billing directly by emailing billing@secondlife.com or calling 1-800-860-6990 (in US and Canada).

From: Nyx Divine They said it was Linden Labs... If you ever get billed by Linden Labs, as opposed to Linden Lab... it might be good that your CC was flagged. Sorta like getting billed by Fedexe instead of Fedex.

For what it's worth, my PayPal transactions with LL show up as
"LINDEN LAB DUBLIN"

I had the same problem occasionally whenever I ordered a CD from the UK or Europe. It was always annoying because 1) they never told me they suspended the account until I called them about it, and 2) I never authorized them to put a limit on exactly where I could spend my money.
Finally after calling them about it and explaining my concerns exactly, I convinced them to lay off the suspensions for legitimate foreign purchases. The problem hasn't returned since.

From: Bertha Horton and 2) I never authorized them to put a limit on exactly where I could spend my money. Technically, if it's a credit card, it's not your money...
