I don't think there is anything you can do about it, on the mainland. The best you can do, is green it up with plants. There's some leafy ground cover in your library, and a few other good one prim plants and trees. Or you could whip up some sort of terrace setup, and use a green texture for the ground on a prim.

Bumping your thread is not going to work.
You can buy an entire sim, then you can have more control over the terrain's properties
There was a mainland sim in the snow area, with over 90 of the snow terrain covered with grass prims.
You are not alone in your dislike of the lack of control of one's mainland parcel terrain terrain texture.
I suppoe the easy approach would be to sell your land and buy some with the ground texture you want to have.

From: VolatileWhimsy Bu ok, last question i swear for at least, uhmm a day? ok ok a week terraforming, my land is ugly brown, i want it green darnit! Mine's dirt too. I flattened it (except for the edges to make it look kinda sand-duney) and slapped a few flat prims down and textured them with grass. Nice and green now.
