When I use the main map, sometimes it says that areas are heavily populated (usually signified by the green dots)--sometimes as much as 45 people, but then when I actually go there, sometimes all I find are these green T's on the mini map, and sometimes there's only 2 people there, and even sometimes there's nobody to be found at all. Is the main map refreshed differently than the mini map, and what do the green T's represent? In live help, someone told me that the green T's are people that are flying, but most of the time they don't move, and I've never ran into anyone in a place where the T's are.

Heaven Above The Clouds is quite high up. Some places, like Heaven, are popular, but if you flew in to the area, you would be below everyone. They are not flying. In fact, I understand at the altitude that Heave and others like it sometimes are, you really *can't* fly without assistance. Instead, the people are walking around on giant platforms built hundreds of meters above the ground. The altitude of people relative to you is shown on the map. A dot means they're at about the same altitude, while a T means they're above you, and there's an inverted T that means they're below. In one place, however, I saw a series of inverted T's, where people where. Oddly, I was standing on the ground. Anyone care to explain that one?

Okay. That makes sense, although after you said you can't fly without assistance, I'm beginning to wonder--am I breaking rules by flying?

Just to make sure everything's clear:
Flying is a built-in feature. It's one of the most basic features of SL, and thus will never break any rules.
You can toggle flight by pressing the F key, or holding down E (the jump key) for a second or two. And, of course, there's the Fly button on the bottom.
There are items you can get that extend the built-in flying ability so that you can fly faster, fly higher, etc.
"can't fly without assistance" should be "can't fly beyond a certain altitude without assistance". ;P

Yeah. I loused that.
Generally, you can't fly on high altitude builds without assistance, meaning at an altitude above a certain height, you need a jetpack. Below that, you can fly all you want unaided.
I'm sorry about that. I sometimes hhave a brainfart and wonder what that oder is and where that gray matter on my shoulder came from.
