I went looking for an apartment to rent today - and ended up buying some (First Land) land and having a skybox built for me - for free. It just goes to prove that the spirit of SL generosity is alive and well.
The builder (whom I won't name for obvious reasons) went out of her way to build me a new house on her own time, for nothing -- and did it twice after I accidentally deleted it (blush). She did it because she wanted to put something back, and because she enjoys it. And she won't be getting any rent out of me either.
A lesson for us all...and a big public thank you: you know who you are.

From: Lindy Uram The builder (whom I won't name for obvious reasons) Great story, but name her! It's only against the rules to name names if it's negative. Awarding someone a big public thankyou is not only in keeping with the rules, but in my opinion it's just the kind of positive thing we need a lot more of on these forums. The forums used to be such a happy place. For the past 18 months or so, they've been, well, something else. If you've got something nice to say about someone, by all means say it.

actually i agree with the op From: someone Private discussions – the forums are a public area for the Second Life community’s use. Individuals who have a dispute with each other have other channels of communication to discuss their differences or communicate – private messaging, IM within Second Life, or chatting within Second Life. Also, threads that are addressed to a single individual or group are inappropriate on the forums, this includes slander or "naming names" in a posts title, starting polls about a particular resident or group, etc.

Let me ask her first, since it's her business that could be affected.
And I agree, there's so much negativity here right now - I felt it needed a change...

Hey, something unrelated. But I just realized how easy it would be now for an alt to plug your work for you on the forums and create a sense of ....

OK, OK already! It was Palomma Casanova. Let me stress: 1. I'm not one of her alts 2. She didn't put me up to this 3. She is happy for me to mention her name with those caveats So thank you, Pal, and your generous heart.

This is a surprise for me, Lindy. Nobody takes the time to do something like this anymore. I just did it because I didn't want people to take advantage of you. I showed you the apartment I was renting that was about to be vacant soon. But when you were nice and asking questions about prims I felt you needed a bit of time understanding how prims work and land, ect.. and that some people out there rent apartments for little prims and many just exploit new residents in SL. I had the time, thought I needed a break from the things I usually do, and I thought would be fun looking around and help you to find that first land you thought about, and help you understand about tier and stuff. I am glad we found the perfect land after looking at awful spots and awful looking neiborhoods (what a shame). When I saw you trying to build, I said, You know what? I love building apartments, and small basic homes, why not doing it for her? I saw you struggling a bit and didn't mind to help you. I wasn't interested of taking the money of someone new. Was fun to build you a home. Small but was something that made me happy to help. Many new people use alts to take advantage of others. Did I think you could be an alt taking advantage of me? Well, I did some at first. But when you wanted to buy first land, only new residents can. So I felt very comfortable with you. I dont' know but I felt really good in taking the time to help you. I dont want any publicity from this, was just fun, satisfied me to see a happy resident enjoy her first home. yes, you didn't rent from me lol but is ok. Our apartments rent pretty quick, I hardly have an empty one. By next week will be rented. Actually is rented now because I put a future tenant in it while I built him an apartment just because he wanted to rent with us. Anyway, was very fun to make you an unique place. Teach you a bit about building, and yes, you deleted the house twice. And you know what? Instead of being with stress and anxiety and annoyed, I laughed so loud at home. It was funny, how you deleted the house and returned half of the prims of the house. But was my fault too because I didn't link it well lol The second time was your fault haha, was so funny. You made my day Lin.... and appreciate the fun.... and I made a new friend... I remember that first person that gave me my apartment for free too.. Her name is Cinda Valentino. She gave me clothes and a home. And I will never forget that. She taught me a lesson back then. Take care... and Welcome again to Second Life. Don't forget to stop at The Free Dove for free clothes *smile* P.S. If you can't find a way to put a teleport to the 2nd floor I will try my best to do it for you

Good on you Palomma, that warms my heart, so many were so good to us when we first came in, it seems only right when i have a new person ask the same questions and make the same mistakes i did, to help them. Its like pass it on in SL...stands and applauds Pal!

What can I say? When/if I get to a level of expertise where I can help newbies, I'll be delighted to return the favour. PS: 2nd floor teleport would be nice Pal...
