An article on virtual-world economic liability and the big, fat check the Lindens are writing to you-know-who to make up for the disappearance of telehubs.

Lindenomics and liability

In introducing Point to Point (P2P) movement in Second Life, Linden Lab fundamentally altered the economic structure of the virtual space. In response to protests Linden has offered to buy back land as a form of ‘compensation’. Taken together with the recent FBI reports is this the dawn of a liability culture within Second Life heralding a new form of virtual space?

Furthermore, as Second Life goes to the Metaverse, and this becomes an open platform, Linden Lab risks lawsuit in court and [attachment culling] will, I repeat WILL be reverse in court.

The llink to the Terra Nova article in the above post does work.
(links within the TN article may not ... haven't followed them)

The article does violate that "longer than your arm" rule.

The article and the comments still coming in provide the most valuable and scholarly discussion on Second Life's legal and economic system that I've ever read.

I do believe he meant the link to The Herald that's in the Terra Nova article, which doesn't work for me either.

Oh Herald, wondered what Hearld meant in Magnum's post.

If it's the Herald article you need, to save all that highlighting and deleting pain in the ass, then this is the link for you:

What does the first name that Jarod Godel mentioned in his thread about new names mean anyway? The name is "Bukkake". Does that have something to do with how Jarod Godel described how to use GLintercept to acquire textures created by other people in Second Life?

Ooh. I was thrilled to see that the big land barons aren't getting refunds. :D
