Im building at a sandbox, and some prims just vanish to nowhere, and never come back.

I thought at first it could had been some one-time bug, but now it has happened over 10 times and I dont know what to do... is this a bug? and if it is so, if there any special way to prevent it? im handling 1k prims at the moment... does this influence the prim's vanishing act?

thanks in advance.

Awww. :( This wouldn't happen to be the 3 AM+3 PM SLT sandbox wipes, would it? Sandboxes have objects deleted (returned if they're NO COPY) at those times. There are signs posted in the sandboxes with that info.

no im pretty informed about the sandbox wipe times... apart from the fact that they mention when they will clean up the sandbox 5 minutes before they do...

im not talking about all of the prims dissapearing... im talking about maybe 2 or three prims just vanishing away from the rest...

disappearing prims

I was in my own land, building a prim skirt for my gown when I decided to wear it to test it. Seeing it was right I decided to detach it so I can transfer it to my clothing folder for sorting. When I tried to look for the item (it appeared below but not inside the Trash Icon) and clicked on it, SL crashed. When I logged back on, I tried looking for it and saw that it had disappeared. :( I didn't have time to send a report since I was at home and my ride was already downstairs to bring me to the office.

Could it be the "prims turning invisible when texture or color changes" bug ? In most cases alt-zooming far far away and back turns them visible again.

Does this happen in every sandbox you go to? Have you done this in private sandboxes too? You're welcome to test at my experimental grounds @ Montara (234, 224, 0). Autoreturn is 720 minutes. :)

No, it is almost certainly the "asset server is overloaded so it drops requests to instantiate objects in world" not-a-bug intentional failure without error return, but Lindens have to pretend that this isn't being done intentionally in order to not admit that their system is bleeding to death.

No, I mean, you must be doing something wrong: user error. No, wait, I mean it is your ISP, I mean your drivers. No, I mean it is Microsoft's fault, please call their technical support who will put you on hold for three hours and then tell you to reformat your machine. Yep, that's almost certainly it.

This is getting a little tedious. Stop lying about it, please? It really doesn't help.

Well, I was in a sandbox, clicked on a post to unlink it, and did so - and the whole part of the house disappeared! Friend of mine standing there still saw it though, so I logged off and back on and there it was.

I have in the past, however, had pieces just disappear and never show up again for no reason.

Could this be related to the 5-minutes ago, I created a prim which now would rather die than risk being copied with that helpful "You do not have permission to copy a cylinder created by you recently on your land textured with textures of your own creation that you uploaded a year ago" message, bug?

Or is it more akin to the "yes, I know you've selected two medium sized prims adjacent to each other, but what makes you think you have the right to link them, maybe if you try again in 10 minutes I might look more kindly upon you" bug? Or the similar, "yeah so you linked these, and now you wanna unlink them, I'm not listening to you until you make up your mind" bug.

Is the prospect of trying to file a bug report these days making anyone else feel they've stepped into the Twilight Zone these days?

I've been seeing conditions where prims dissapear, yesterday it was my entire boat! I knew it was still there because I had an alt there testing a vendor and I could still see it with the alt account on a separate computer. Relogging cured it.

You may also run into a condition where the sim itself is full, this can happen in sandbox sims where people are testing rez scripts or someone has a 6000 prim set of wings they are working on and they make some copies. New prims will take out old prims sometimes. Also, sandbox sims are not noted for being stable at all since people are working on things and they often aren't right.

Does this also apply to situations where you "own" 1/8th of a sim which no one is ever in where you are using about 10% of your prim allocation and your neighbors have static builds of the same approximate density?

Or is it just because "Mr. Impeach" recently bought a 16m parcel adjacent to mine to install one of his lovely signs in a place where no one ever goes (presumably for maximum political impact)?

Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

I have no idea. I can only relate what I have seen and experienced myself. I have seen people use rez bombs that can wipe out an entire plot's prims but they aren't supposed to work now but we know how that turns out. I have also seen unstable sims from time to time. Considering all the rotating signs, scripts and flames, he may very well be causing it.
