This is pretty self-explanatory. But it'd be helpful if the English majors in the bunch would detail the reasons for their answer. I mean, what is the difference between writer and senator? Boater and sailor?

I usually check these things with Google... 1.39 million results for "scripter", 1.23 million results for "scriptor", so I guess they can both be used interchangeably

I would assume scriptor is the americanisation of the word Scripter follows ( in my oppinion ) the rules applied to other english words run - runner fly - flyer cook - chef ( where'd that come from ) drive - driver eat - eater drink - drinker Although saying that act - actor Throws a spanner in that idea

I went for scripter. But according to dictionary.com neither scripter nor scriptor exist. That means it still falls under the "jargon" category.
Guess we go with whatever floats our boat.
If we're going to be really strict about it, one who writes scripts is a scriptwriter. For our application here programmer is, however, the most appropriate term to use.
For brevity and if only for the reason of distinguishing the SL programmers from the SL-resident script makers, I'll still go with "scripter."

Practitioners of the arcane art of scripting, should be called Script Wizards.
