The problem is that some dufus is posting signs in-world protesting RL political issues. Signs which are numerous and ugly. Signs which are degrading to the SL experience, infringing upon users' enjoyment, and are damaging to SL's reputation.

And all that has to be done is to ban RL political picketing and protests in-world. As evidenced by the negative response, it amounts to spam, and griefing.

Just a minor example attached.

What's the issue with signs?


The general issue is this:

Land in SL is divided into rigid, bordered areas. However, SL as a general experience is not. At any given moment in SL, there's a very good chance your screen is showing items made or designed by large numbers of different people.

The effect of this is that one person, by creating an item that can be seen for long distances, can enhance - or ruin - the experience offered by what's placed on large areas of surrounding land. Obviously, when it's "ruined", people tend to have problems.
