I'm not sure if this is really the right place to post this, but anyway, here goes ...
I haven't been able to get inworld for some months now due to the fact I have a laptop computer with drivers that can't be upgraded and until I can get access to another computer the most of my SL experience will be forum-based but onto my concern ... last night I logged into my account and I noticed that I had less Lindens in my account than the very last time when I was actually inworld. I checked out the transactions for my account and it indicates that one of the groups I'm a member of has started to debit $L5 (on two occassions $L6) a week for 'group liability'. o_o As far as I can make out, this started sometime in June ... is this right? None of my other groups are doing this and the people who run the group in question have never mentioned anything about taking money for a 'group liability' and because of the fact I can't get inworld because of my computer I can't get myself out of the group in question ... so by the time I am able to get inworld once again my account will more than likely be cleaned out. Any suggestions as to what I can do? (I hope that all made sense ^^)

Never heard of such a thing but I'm new too so I can't say. Feel sorry for you, that's not very cool of them. If nothing else they should have noticed that you hadn't loged on in so long and not taken any from you.

I found out about the group liability thing the hard way too. There really is nothing you can do until you can get on another pc and log in to leave those groups. You might try calling LL and asking for Cyn. Explain the problem to her. She helped me out once and she may do the same for you. She didn't mind tossing a few Ls into my account at the time to keep me from having a minus balance. Yes that can happen too. Overdrawn.

'Group Liability' is a normal part of SL, Foxie. If a group has outgoings greater than its income then that expense is spread across the group membership as a 'group liability'. OTOH, if a group earns more than its expenses, then you get a dividend. Not often much, but something for the feel-good factor.
