Whisper/Say on Vendors

Is it just me or does browsing a vendor and getting a screen full of spam telling you what you are looking at drive you crazy ?

I mean you have the picture , you have the floating text above it , you have it where if I want it dispenses a notecard about it , So WHY is it necessary to cover my screen in front of me with green spam telling me what the hover text and the picture already is saying ? It is even more irritating when in a store and others trying to browse also . I have on occasions not even been able to see what it is I was looking at and considering buying .

Sellers , know this , I refuse to browse or buy from vendors that gives me that green spam no mater how interested I was in the product . Mall owners , rental stall owners , if you don't have a policy disallowing whispers/say except for purchases be aware I have left numerous times from shopping there because I got so irked at the green spam covering my screen . I can name a number of sales that were lost from me because of this . I am sure I am not the only person who feels this way .

What kind of crappy vendors talk to you with each item?

Although I do have a freebie vendor that talks to you occasionally - if an item is selected that's full perms, it says "this full permissions item is not for resale". But if people didn't resell freebies I wouldn't need to have that just to make sure that even the most determined person can't say "ooh I thought you meant for me to take it and resell it".

Spammy objects ARE annoying.

I'm not sure which one it is, but I have seen one vendor that prints 3-4 lines every time a customer selects a new item.

Also, please stop telling me when other people's items have initialized. I don't care if your Whatsis has booted. We have llOwnerSay()* now.

*Yes, I know this is a fairly recent thing in the SL-timeline, and therefore we'll be seeing spammy items for a long time. But you can still upgrade your older scripts to use it...

I personally don't mind spammy scripts, but I always feel a bit guilty scrolling through them with people nearby, especially if the contents are a bit... personal.

Athough, that now gives me all sorts of evil ideas to do when I spy someone near a spammy vender unawares...

This is interesting and something I never really thought of before. I use the JEVN vendors in my shop and they do give the green spam. Next time I go online I'm going to go into the notes and check to see if there is a way to turn it off.... I just never gave it any thought before.

The freebie vendors i made (HIBRID) do not spam chat. I dislike that just as much as everyone else. You can pick them up for free in either "Wolf Valley"'s Store or in "The Forest"'s store. just look for the purple box panal with a lusk wolf on the front. I plan on adding them to SLX/SLB aswel. but i havent done it yet. You can find version 1.0 at yadni's junkyard but they are seriusly outdated. The current model is 1.5c. it has fast pay, product descriptions, and stuff.

*shrugs* personally I loathe floating text and much prefer a vendor to whisper to me. I never shop in malls partly because I hate the way the text bleeds between stalls... the other reason being the lag of course!

Maybe I'm just weird... entirely possible I suppose :D

I think one should take the middle road and hate both floating text and green spammy chat text.

So I do.

Every object should have a 10 second soundclip saying the name and price. :P

I like ones that llInstantMessage or notecard the current displayed info on touch. Floating text is OK in standalone stores, but it's nasty in malls because of the bleed-through.
