I both think they are good and bad. A real would friend could not play in sl because she had bad credit, and could not get a CCD are Cell phone, not even a bank card. Now she is in sl having a good time.(I am so happy to have her in sl) But i do think Sl should ask for a SSN or something, That away they can check age of people come in.

You are joking right? SSN is probably the most important number people should not give out. Also people from outside US has no SSN. No way would I be give my SSN to a game company.

There is no way to check a person's age with an SSN anyway.
Oh, and only Americans will have one, so the rest of the world can't join SL?

i have dirt for credit (im 27 and havent been responsible untill the last few years)
in 2002 i racked up about 400 bucks in NSF debt with my bank in 2004 i racked up about 280 bucks in NSF debt with my bank
i do not own my cellphone (dad and family plan, i dont ever use the phone, thats just me and i wouldnt care any less if i didnt have one, but the parents want a stable portible contact with me and my job and my less than stellar, but mechanicaly perfect car ect bla bla bla we love you boy awww)
ive never had a credit card
for the most part i dont exist in the system
and yet in 2005 i walked into my bank spent 5 min with one of the ppl that have a desk and reopened my checking account, which nowdays almost all checking accounts automaticly comes with a visa check card
check/debit cards work the same as credit cards on the front end, the difference is how they are processed, instead of your credit line its based on what you have in your checking account
theres your golden ticket
now in my personal experiance over the last few years i found out it doesnt matter how much nice stuff you have if your puking up blood over it, i ditched the high car payment and the expensive rent, shure i drive a 1990 buick and live in a less nice apartment thats not on the lake, but hey im much happier
i wish you luck
and besides a SSN has no reflection on your finacial status, so even if the unthinkable would happen and SSN's were used, it would be useless except for age verification, and only with US citizens

From: Baba Yamamoto I would like to suggest you use an english spell checking program before you post to this forum. It would make discussion a lot simpler. The forums at Cristiano Midnight's SLUnivers.come have spell check built in to the forum system. I wonder if Linden Lab will ever become as technologically advanced as sluniverse.com? Are there forums with built in translation? Is there a dialog in the SL sign up process that advises that adult material lies beyond and that it may be illegal to view parts of Second Life in some areas and cite some federal law and basically tries to scare little kids out of looking for fear they will get in trouble, like porno sites have, or is there just a date of birth field and a tiny little statement that SL main grid is for 18 years and older that hardly catches ones attention at all? Is the OP concerned about age verification because they are worried about children being exposed to the adult content in SL, or is it fear of poor behavior by children, or what? Back to the spelling thing, there is a Firefox extension called Spellbound, I think it is, to handle spell checking in forms like this forum text entry field; Opera has links to a spell checker that works with it; and there is a spell check plugin for IE, called IESpell.

They wouldn't want to put up a warning like that or they could lose 90% of the SL call girls at signup before they can be recruited into sexual deviance ;0
