My daughter just started doing it for people, taking their pictures and giving them to them... Then she put up a little photo studio skybox on our land and started getting people to pose for her. I asked her to take some pictures for a ceremony her Dad and I had, people saw them and said how great they were.... word of mouth is what's working for her. Give it a shot. As for what you need, you have the ability to take snapshots in world. Save them to your computer instead of uploading on the spot and do some editing in a photoshop or paintshop program. If you have that, you have all the tools you need. As for getting people to pose for you, most people have poses in their inventory. (I have a whole folder of modeling poses if you'd like to IM me in world) To get people to look in a specific direction, set out a prim (outside of the shot of course) and have the person use the alt key and their mouse to "face" the prim. Even if their head won't move because of the pose, their eyes will be directed toward's the prim. Some of the modeling poses I have will even make the avatar flash a smile... if you can catch them at that moment it can make for a pretty shot.

Also, you should have a look at the work of some great photographers in SL - there are several people who regularly submit pictures to Snapzilla that are amazing, here are two examples: Phinn Boffin: Phinn takes very striking images of avatars: Shack Dougall: Shack is particularly good at taking landscape images that show the grandness and scope of SL: There are a lot of other great photographers in SL - check out The Best of Snapzilla for more inspiration on what is possible in SL photography.
