I would suggest 3' tall, large lips, big breasts and a flat head...

Heeey, I suggest you take a look at some anatomy pictures, so you can at least get a feel for human body proportions. Experiment! It's all good.
Or you could buy shapes. They sell them in SL. Just look up the shape shops in "Find"/Places tab.

Hiya, I can send you a couple of shapes if you like of avatars i've created that have had a few compliments... just send me an IM inworld with what you want and I'll send you a couple... the best thing to do is find yourself a nice skin, because to be honest I think skins are what make an avatar gorgeous. the gnubie shop has some great skins for 1L and there are a couple of free ones floating around elsewhere. From: David Valentino I would suggest 3' tall, large lips, big breasts and a flat head... Baaaaa! Seriously though - use Find - Places - look up the New Citizens Inc There are a lot of FREE fully modable and customizable avatars there of various shapes and sizes. I hope you can find one (or many!) that will give you a place to start

First is to begin by creating realistic proportions.
Begin with height. Make an object that has the height you want (in meters). Stand your avatar beside that object before you go to the appearance editor.
Once you've gotten the height you want, pick a photo of someone with body proportions you like.
Work on the body sliders one by one until you get a close enough match. You will have to keep going back and forth among sliders because some proportions are affected by several sliders (shoulders for example are affected by 4 sliders).
You will have to keep going back and forth also among height-affecting sliders to maintain the height you want, remember the height object you're using as a reference.
I emphasize height because my first try I thought I created someone 6'2", I found out he was 6'8". Too lazy to fix all the things over again (including the face), I resized him to about 6'4" and it's been ok for me since.
The hard part is the face.
Once again find a photo reference of the face you want. You will need a front view and a side view, and preferably a quarter view.
The hard part about adjusting the face is what you see in the appearance editor is NOT what you get outside it.
So begin by moving the head, eye, nose, mouth, ear, and chin sliders (lots of them) to get close as possible to your target.
Save your work then exit so you can inspect the results. Compare them to the photo, then return to adjust one aspect at a time. Go in, make the adjustment without believing what you see, then exit to inspect. Repeat until you get what you want.
