Someone said some where I could build a house for half a day or buy/rent land.

1. What land can I have a house up for half a day?
2. To buy or rent land do I have to use real money?

You can build anything in public sandboxes... (search 'places' for 'sandbox'

To rent, find someone in the game who is a renter. Most all references to money in game refer to linden$dollars... not USD. USD is only to buy lindens$, and pay your monthly fees to Linden Labs....

I started with a basic account with the intent that after a week, if I liked SL, I would drop some money on Linden $. I used IGE a few times, then PayPal started to give me grief, then I picked up a premium account since I'd been on the system so much, thoroughly enjoying myself.

Now I don't buy many L$ since some animations I made have been selling pretty well.

You could also try fishing for a job?

Okay, maybe you should try looking for money trees or camping chairs. (Use Search, I don't know where any are off hand.)

Hey Spen, I have no idea how well this strategy works these days, but it might get you some free money.

The idea is, go to the places mentioned in this thread, and get free money, if your account is new enough.

I suspect a lot of the money trees have gone barren owing to the use of alts to get free money owing to the ease of account creation these days.

But it won't hurt to try.

I have heard of people actually getting paid a hundred lindens or so for dancing, so that might work out for you.

For building a house and leaving it up, you might want to ask if someone will let you put one up on their land. You could post such a request in some classified forum, or in the bulletin board forum. Might not work, but the price is right.
