a few persons have been banned from the forum right before the policy "forum ban = SL ban" passed, these peoples obviously do not belong to SecondLife as they proved they could harm a lot of peoples just by the power of speech. I think it belong to the residents to decide if these peoples still deserve the right to spread their filth speech in secondlife. It seems the main brake is that these persons own large assets in secondlife, so what should be done of their assets in order to minimize the impact on Linden Labs?

what are you talking about? SL is a game. LL is a service provided. prok pays their electricity bill. and she's entertaining.
noone has been harmed that wasn't already disturbed. take SL less seriously. you'll have more fun.

I'm inclined to say 'No'. Retroactively applying policy is a bad idea, wherever it rears it's ugly head.

No. That's almost like double jeopardy (sorry I can't seem to find the right term to describe it). Why punish someone again for something he was punished for already? Because of the change of policy? That's not fair. That's like a man sentenced to jail for life for a crime he commited and was sentenced two years ago, only to find out later he has to be executed because the punishment now for the crime he commited is now Death Penalty. So unless that same person commits the same offence again, then he should be punished according to the penalties that are in effect now.

Kyrah, normally I stay out of situations of policy dispute, however this one applies as "Grandfathered in" type situations... or "Double Jepoardy" a sentance should only be issued once, or the reviewing agency would be seen as becoming hostile. In the case of the United States, this means trouble for such a prosecutor, however in SL, it would mean user protest and unrest.

From: Kyrah Abattoir do not see it as a punishment, more like putting the trash out Except it is punishment. Of course it's punishment. Punishment isn't a bad word, but let's not kid ourselves about what's going on here. No, rules should not be applied retroactively.
