In October and November of 2005, the SL Katrina group worked hard to build replicas of Biloxi and Big Easy for the purpose of fundraising for those who were victims of the hurricanes that ravaged the areas.

Now it's time to say goodbye to those beautifully built sims, and Jeska Linden had the awesome idea of sending the sims out with a bang! So we're planning a Mardi Gras style party on Feb. 28 from 3:30 to 8pm SLT with a parade, DJs, live music, beads and more.

We hope that you will attend, but more importantly, we hope you'll plan your own portion of SL Mardi Gras on Biloxi and Big Easy. If you do, please just let me know so that I can make sure your event is publicized.

3:30 to 8 PM?? Why are all the good events always on american times?

Katt, any chance of making the same party on European times (4 to 8 PM CET is... uhmmm... 7 AM to 11 AM SLT)? Count me in to organize it :)

Isn't 4-8 PM SLT equivalent to 1-5 AM CET ?

Yay another event that starts at 11:30pm GMT! Where obviously the more interesting events will happen later in the night. Luckily I don't sleep. Much.

If you need help with extending the hours so non-americans can attend, I'm sure many of us would be happy to help. Then again, we don't pay much attention to events anymore because hardly anything interesting happens when we are online.

I would love to have someone in charge of organizing additional hours for the party. This was definately not meant to exclude people. Would you like to volunteer, Luth?

I would have a bead dispenser set up, so all you would need to do (at a minimum) is arrange DJs, live acts, a parade and whatever else you think up.

Edited to add: I will help you as much as possible; I just won't be able to be in-world when the events in your time slot are ongoing.

Live performer available for Euro version of Mardi Gras
02-23-2006 13:07
I volunteered to help organize some live music for this event, and I know of at least one UK resident that would love to perform but can not, do to the hours. If you were to organize euro hours, IM me in world and I will put you in touch with the person question to arrange for a live peformance!

And as a general call out to musicians, I am providing a streaming server for the live performances during the US hour's, probably 6-7:30 SLT. If you are interested in performing, IM me in world.

We also need DJ's who can spin some good Zydeco!
