Ok, I guess I am not quite sure how lag works. But my land is extremely lagged out.. What could be the reason on this? i do have a house and trees and stuff like that.. have a few curtains blowing.. but this stuff will cause lag?

Lag is caused by the sum of what everything in the sim is doing and what everything you can see is doing.

What else is on your sim? Or do you own the entire sim? Clubs, malls, a lot of textures, scripts.......will all lag a place.

Oh yeah and your PC can be an issue. I have upgraded mine like 3-4 times since joining SL.

Start by opening the stats window with CTRL-SHIFT-1

Key things to look for are:

Your Client framerate

The Sim's Time Dilation
The Sim's FPS

There's a lot more information on analyzing the stats window here

Go to view->Statistics Bar

Your Simulator time dialation should be around 1.00, if it's not around 1 or changing drastically with lag, then contact a Linden.

awesome, i knew you all would know what to do.

and i have a crappy vid card.. i didn't look at the specs closely enough when i bought the comp i did.. i dont' even have agp slots.. -.-

Well for what it's worth a new vid card was the A #1 thing I needed when I first started SL. Made a HUGE difference for me.

im just going to buy a new system in a couple of months.. heck the video card in my daughters computer is better than what i have.. and its the best i could find for the slot.. LOL
lesson to be learned, don't be in a hurry, and don't trust that the maker isn't going to get out as cheap as possible.. and just do it yourself!
