I have a built-in fire extinguisher in my pc (watercooling).

But to be frankly, I don't think there will be a huge performance impact. You can always turn off the new features.

A friend sent me an advance release of the soon-to-be-released nVidia Forceware Drivers:

http://www.fetedinnercore.com/nVidia_Drivers_84.22.zip

Feel free to grab 'em, I'll leave 'em up for a few days. They'll work on most modern nVidia cards EXCEPT for the 7800 GTX; however, use at your own risk!

Regards,

-Flip

Oooo! I got on the preview grid & it was nice! Abbotts was there, so I TP'd over & got to see occlusion culling work. Was nifty! Starts off laggy at first for about a second or two then WHAM- my fps increases!

Got to play around with the flexi-prims. Also neat, but I wish they were able to be solid just for one reason... Funhouse. It would've been neat to make a jiggly, bouncy floor like in the old walk-through Funhouses. :D

I think you can come close to this effect by doing some small pushes timed with some flex movements using llSetPos or llSetPrimitiveParams, on collision of a solid invisible nonflex bottom...ehm..,

you can script this effect. ;)

ok. Here is the nitty and the gritty from Zero Linden, (engineering):

From: someone

Zero Linden: the changes in UI don't mean that we've scrapped all shaders - just some of the options are being delayed -- and in the end we may be able to deliver all those shaders without all that UI -- depends on how they test out on various PCs

Zero Linden: but, short answer: no, shaders aren't being permanently scrapped

Zero Linden: we are not permemnently removing shaders - only some of them got taken out o this release

Zero Linden: indeed - we just need to get them looking good in all cases!
