I am working on a custom build and have Busy Mode turned on. I have been approached by 8 people in the last hour or so. Two of which I know and the others were just rezzed in the last 2 days. The 2 I know did not know where I was and are not on my friends list...I did not mind one of them contacting me because they needed my help. But the rest were just talking about a whole lot of nothing. Even so, if someone does not respond to your IM, then why map them with your God Mode tool? Does LL know what's going on here? Are they aware of the impact this is having on our Second Life Privacy? If this "God Mode" is going to continue to be in use and approved by LL, then there needs to be a "Don't map me" option in our settings where we can keep people from mapping us. Those of you who do not have it yet and are wondering. Yes! You can map someone if they are online whether they are on your friends list or not! It's a great tool if not abused. I know that the developer spent a lot of time on it and I do not wish to discredit his/her work. I just think LL needs to make some adjustments to ensure that our privacy in game is not comprimised so that we can live our Second Lives in some peace.

I didn't know it could do that. Well, that nails it, I'm switching to my alt.

Oh no! Crap. I don't think it's right to have something that can do this.

LL is aware that mapping anyone is currently a client side feature and will be fixing it in the future.

Start doing extremly nasty, boring, or morally wrong stuff. When they TP to you, they will probably think twice about doing it again.
".... hey"
"Oh sorry, just one moment. I'm making babies with this zombie I made!"
"No no, it's alright. I got something I have to do anyways."

If you know the names of troublemakers you can check where they are.
Might as well put it to whatever good use it has while it lasts.

This is definitely the best fix for the problem, until something more official comes along.

From: MadamG Zagato I wonder if any of the other features of this tool are being looked at by LL as well? It is my scincere hope that the whole reason for allowing the project to go on unmolested is to let them to the hard part: Find the holes. Then LL can to the easy part: Plug 'em.

Being mapped by someone who's a friends without your consent is annoying as it is. Just because someone has the ability to see when you log in and out of SL doesn't mean you want them to know where you are at any given time and be able to instantly teleport to your location.
It's just one of those bad SL etiquette things that's "common sense".
But being mapped by strangers?! - I wasn't aware this was possible. I'm shocked. If/when a friend maps me they are instantly "unfriended" and their card is deleted. But being able to map anyone whether friend or foe? - that just makes me really uneasy. It's an easy stalker tool. And guess what? - muting someone (as live help continually promotes) does not get them out of your face or prevent them from getting in your personal space (e.g. bumping, shooting, snaring, etc.).
Madam, I have thought myself that it would be useful to have a "Don't map me" map-blocking feature. It would be extremely useful, and undoubtedly savvy, aware SLers would use it.
I'm seeing a lot of privacy-related products pop up in-world (e.g. personal security field) as of late and it should be an indicator to LL that, yes, this is an open virtual environment, but people still want their privacy / personal space.
We all have the right to that.

I know that many don't like being tped to people they don't know.. I won't like people to tp to me if i was talkign to someone privately.. I mainly tp to my friends then I need to

I guess il start ban-orbiting people with my psitec when they map me and arent friends. Being AR'd is no longer a threat since they can't prove i hit them anymore.
