What's with the forum closing frenzy?

I tried to post to a thread, only to find that it's locked (I couldn't even write the reply).
Then I tried to reflect to another forum topic, only to find that after 2 minutes of typing and pressing reply, my reply didn't get through. 'Thread closed'.

Is there some kind of moderators vs. forum users race going on I dunno about?

They do go in waves, because we come on and get the abuse reports from the night all in one go.

But all the threads recently closed did need to be closed.

In some cases, it's the same person posting the same thing again and again, ad infinitum (and nauseum), where the previous posting was closed because it was repetitive, violating the forum rules, or committing some other variety of offense.

I mean, hell, did you count the number of actual thread starters for all the ageplay threads that spread like wildfire through the forums (not counting parodizing response threads), last week?

Nah, I meant 2 funny threads: one parodizing Anshe (okay, it might be a bit over the limit, but it was still funny) and another one where some good juicy drama was just starting, with the poster contradicting herself in ONE starting sentence

Both closed Dang.
