There seems to be an emerging pattern these days where people can stir shit up in the forums and get away with it, simply by bumping an old drama thread. This is obviously gaming the system and should not be allowed. I propose that LL ammend the TOS so as to make that "reviving controversial threads" thing a punishable offense.

OMGZ, this is such a blatant attempt to villify a group based on their concepts that not only have I ARed this thread, but I've also ARed your relatives and the entire list of names from the Beta monunment in Plum. Down with discrimination against necroposters! This is an outrage!

Isn't that a trifle difficult? I mean..who has the right to say which thread contains most 'drama'? The Lindens? The Fic? The Resmods? The people who drop by and maintain a less than 300 posts? The 'good' people? The pseudointellectuals? The Mensa wannabes? I mean what may be true for some may not be true for other people. Afterall if the thread is considered 'bad' or violates the TOS in the first place, they get locked automatically anyway. What I would like to suggest though is an auto locking thread. Example if a topic reaches page 4 (or whatever page is convenient), the thread gets automatically locked (with the exception of stickies, how to do stuff, etc). I'm not sure about everybody else, but when I look at topics, I don't even bother going to page 2 or 3 anymore, to me that's like trying to read a newspaper that is a week old and giving a very delayed reaction which I know will or might annoy folks or bring back the bad emotions associated with said thread. And besides for a topic to reach that page, it would most likely mean it's a dead topic anyway or discussion has ended. ^^; I'm actually annoyed at all the harmful, sometimes amusing, sometimes annoying (to me anyway), threads that keep popping up. And given my knee-jerk reactions, I'm almost afraid to reply to any post without checking the date of the OP and last five replies. Mew.
