How come no one has written a patch to marry Logitech's Video Effects technology with SL's facial expressions?

Check out the their digital avatars that are hooked to webcam. Pretty cool huh? Is this the way of the future?

If it had a nice, friendly, public API I'd consider hooking it in.
But, it's not on Linux either.
So, no integration for you!

Well, as much as I apreciate the ability my AV has to smile pleasantly and say, "Oh, that's nice," while I roll my eyes and make one handed wanking motions IRL, I think that something like this could be a nice addition to SL. :)

(As could voice. I *really* want SL to get out of the stone age and get voice.)

Well if there's no public API, sounds like someone at Linden Labs needs to start courting Logitech for a possible collaboration or cross marketing. It would benefit both companies I think.

If this actually worked, Logitech's technology finally would have some relevant place where it made sense to use, and SL would solve the inconvenience of the trickery needed to go beyond the basic expressions and such.

I agree with the voice thing btw. Can't they somehow figure out a gateway to skype or some other carrier? So the voice would be integrated into the interface but would be routing the data to skype instead. And this would be a opt in opt out type of service perhaps with additional fees / maybe not / not sure.

I personally would not care to have voice over IP in SL. I express myself better in text and get extremely shy when I have to speak up on a video conference type of setting.

But hey, I am with you. Thanks for the reply. :-)
