I voted yes based on the tenure of the question but there are estate, and now region, tools that can't be granted to mainland renters unless they rent the entire sim minus Governor protected land.

One thing we should be able to control on a mainland lot is the ground textures. The world would seem much more realistic if we maintained our lands as people do in the real world. Some people plant nice grass and spray weed killer, others grow clover and onions, still others cover their lots with straw or pebbles. I'd love to draw ground with paths and such to apply to the mesh on my lots. This will require a rewrite of the server code though because sims currently only apply textures across quarters by height.

There are a few other odd things that would be nice, but I'm thinking you're concern is for people who actually rent an entire sim. That seems reasonable except for that whole "it's a world" bullshit routine.

The new tools would allow you to group rented mainland sims into regions and apply permissions to them globally. That'd be more like having your own world. PLUS OMGZORMEGAPANIC YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO RENAME YOUR SIMS, and restart them when they were being buggy, and update their raw files based on your imagination. Imagine how destructive that would be to the world you newbie eating machine you!

In short, yes this makes sense to sensible people. But you'll never convince the All Hail The Central Asset Community World Grid people.

I think sims should have been made smaller, and managed much like private islands.

Think about the freedom to terraform, texture, hide/show and move your own quarter-sized sim worth of land :) All land in SL ought to be like this IMO.

Please LL, for SL v2.0 ?

Either Man can enjoy universal freedom, or Man cannot. If it is possible then everyone can act freely if they don't stop anyone else from doing same. If it is not possible, then conflict will arise anyway so punch those that try to stop you. In conclusion the only strategy that wins in all cases is that of doing what you want against all adversity, as long as you respect that right in others.
